WWE Superstar John Cena, coming up next in "The Marine" opposite "Nip/Tuck" star Kelly Carlson, is apparently up for the lead role in a remake of 1987's Arnold Schwazenegger starrer, "Predator".

| #2 Posted on 29.10.05 0537.37 Reposted on: 29.10.12 0538.09 | This really isn't all that surprising, as Cena's had that whole "Military"/"Jungle" gimmick ever since he appeared on Vince McMahon and UPN's farce of a "Reality Show", Manhunt, which turned out to be one of the worst TV disasters ever, with every contestant getting badly injured, and the producers threatening not to pay them if they didn't come back and re-shoot extra footage after it was over to be spliced in for dramatic effect. It was so bad that Vinnie Mac wanted his name removed from the project (I believe he got his wish, there). Cena worked in his role as "Big Tim", leading of the "Hunters" who would show up at various points in time to eliminate contestants from the show, however.
Whether he can carry that sort of role for an entire movie, though, remains to be seen. | Tenken347

Is Hollywood ever going to realize that the only ones who have caught remake fever are them, and that's why the box office is so low? | oldschoolhero

If a wrestler's going to follow in Arnie's footsteps it should be The Rock. He's at least got the charisma, name value and acting experience. | Dahak

Amen, brother. To paraphrase Jeff Goldblum, this is the worst idea in the long sad history of bad ideas. If John Cena has any sense of career longevity and desire to break into "the mainstream" he will run far and run fast from this idea.
This idea is doomed. Predator does not need to be remade for crying out loud - it's one of the finest action movies from the Golden Age of action movies. And Cena would presume to take the role of probably the most fun performance ("GET TO DA CHOPPA!") by the greatest and most charismatic action star EVER?
Dear God.
This movie is going to get actively savaged by both the public at large, for remaking such a recent movie, and then especially demolished by the fanboy contingent, for their presumption in remaking Predator. And Cena will bear the brunt of their bile, and I'd lay even money that it will be a stigma that he carries for his whole "career" as long as it lasts.
Another generalized question: If Predator is remade (and again, WHY) given the recent trends (such as AvP) it will be a PG-13 film. And anyone that watched AvP (and I feel sorry for you and me for doing so) can attest that Predator has no business in a PG-13 environment. | Eddie Famous
