I'm taking a chance placing this topic here, simply because JBL talks mostly politics.

But....

I'm surprized nobody's mentioned this, but it's easily one of the best written and spoken commentaries I've ever heard. Its of a non-wrestling nature and though I don't know as much about American politics as many people here do...I still found it really fascinating.

It's great to hear JBL talk straight as opposed to talking as a wrestler...if that makes sense.

Does anyone else follow him there, and/or agree with his views?

You can find the link here: http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/jbl/ (there should be a new one within the next couple of days)

Well, we all know his politics, so that shouldn't be a surprise. But if he wants to get back into TV, he's certainly capable of carrying a right-wing pundit show. Sure, there was a bit of his wrestling persona in his delivery, but it'll work as far as hosting a show.

It was still too show-business to possibly be taken seriously in a political context but was, sadly, no more absurdly delivered than half the "political" shows on CNN.

JBL lost me at "All terrorists look the same", which granted, he said months ago, but makes him forever a retard in my mind. He exhibited some more of that retardation by grouping ACLU's stance on child pornography with taking under God out of the pledge. These are not comparable objectives. And yes, they are permanently discredited by that kiddie porn stance, but that's the kind of thing that stands alone. Wanting to redefinie marriage is not comparable to this. Also, with the Ted Kennedy stuff, my argument here is the same that I take for all O.J. or Michael Jackson jokes. If you feel these people got away with the crimes they were charged with, you're entitled to that opinion. But it is disrespectful to the victims to make light of these situations. You are not "getting" the person who "got away with it", you are pissing all over the person who by your own admission you believe was wronged. And that makes you an idiot. Bringing up the drowning stuff with Ted Kennedy is more disrespecful to the victim than it is to him.

HOWEVER...

"Madonna giving parenting advice is like getting diet tips from King Kong Bundy."

This line, made me spit my coke all over my screen. Damn you, JBL.

That was pretty awesome, but come on - Teddy Kennedy, the ACLU - JBL had some great heels to work with there.

Blasting the ACLU for fighting patdowns at football games. Since someone blew themselves up outside of an Oklahoma game, the Buccaneers have been patting people down at the gate. They're supporting a civics teacher's test case, which just earned an injunction against the team. He said the ACLU is teh s uck for doing that, and that this was the same organization that said kiddie porn should be legal.

From Wikipedia:

In 1982, the ACLU became involved in a case involving the distribution of child pornography (New York v. Ferber, 458 U.S. 747). In a controversial amicus brief, the ACLU argued that the New York State law in question "has criminalized the dissemination, sale or display of constitutionally protected non-obscene materials which portray juveniles in sexually related roles", while arguing that child pornography deemed obscene under the Miller test deserved no constitutional protection and could be banned. The ACLU's stance on this case has drawn great criticism from conservatives. In a 2002 letter, the ACLU stated that it "opposes child pornography that uses real children in its depictions"

Which I guess means that their stance is that child porn should be legal if it involves no children and is not obscene...?

The Miller test determines:

--Whether the average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find that the work, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest,

--Whether the work depicts/describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct specifically defined by applicable state law,

--Whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.

Let's not forget that the ALCU also defended NAMBLA. There really is a rich history of defending child exploiters.

See, the context I heard that particular remark from JBL is

1. the stadium staff can't tell what a terrorist looks like
2. they've implemented a policy where all people entering the stadium get a pat-down
3. one individual complains
4. ACLU goes to court because this one person is annoyed, 5. thereby endangering the large number of people in the stadium.

Apparently, a judge has issued an injunction stopping the searches until the lawsuit is over (nfl.com).

I'm surprised no one has pointed out that since JBL's profession involves performing in front of live crowds at *sporting* events, it's understandable he'd be sensitive to this issue.
