Dark match

Scotty 2 Hotty b Ken Doane using the worm. Doane didn't do anything special, but was on the money with everything.

Velocity
Kid Kash b Paul London after blocking a huracanrana and using a springboard moonsault. This was the best match of the night

Bobby Lashley b Jason ? after the dominator. Post-match, Big Vito & Nunzio attacked Lashley but he laid them both out as well. Nunzio did a great job of selling. Quick match

Sylvan b Funaki with a face first suplex. WWE is hiring models and putting them in the stands to take photos of Sylvan. They had two women at ringside, with identical cameras, jumping up and down like they thought he was hot. Both made it on TV. After the match, both went backstage. They were the only two women in the place who gave a crap about him. Based on numerous catcalls, it is very clear a lot of people in the crowd watched TNA and slow-mo'd one of the segments.

Jillian Hall b Stacy Keibler with her feet on the ropes. Hall wears a Vader mask covering her supposed mole (which would fall off her face in a match so they have to cover and pretend it's there). Very amateurish, largely because of Keibler

Smackdown

It opened with the Peep show, where Mysterio, Hardy, Holly and JBL all came out to campaign for votes for the Taboo Tuesday match. Hardy actually got the biggest pop of all, and it's clear they he wasn't the original plan of who they wanted in the match, but he may wind up being there. JBL had the best line, saying if Masters was any smarter, he'd be a moron. Teddy Long came out and ordered a five-way free-for-all

Mysterio won the five-way pinning Christian with a huracanrana. Crowd popped for a Tower of Doom spot. JBL clotheslined Holly. Hardy gave JBL the twist of fate. Christian gave Hardy the unprettier. Mysterio then pinned Christian. When it was over, Mysterio and Hardy were in the ring together asking for votes.

Backstage, Booker T & Sharmell were in Teddy Long's office. Long showed Booker the footage from his title win last week and Sharmell also interfering the previous week. Booker threw a fit at Sharmell, told her he would defend the title against Chris Benoit tonight and that Sharmell had to apologize to Benoit

Roddy Piper showed up. He was confronted by Bob Orton. Piper told Bob that he wrestled his father who was a tough guy, and a smart guy. He insinuated Bob wasn't so smart. He saw Randy and started talking about reverse evolution, and that he's surprised Randy isn't walking on all fours.

They did a backstage stint where the munchkins played a prank on Simon Dean

Next was a very clever bit of manipulation. Palmer Canon came out. Zero reaction to him. Nobody knows he's a heel. Most people didn't even know who he was. Then they played a big Undertaker video and Taker's music. When it was over and everyone was expecting Undertaker, they turned the cameras on Canon and people booed because Undertaker wasn't there. On TV, it'll come across like Canon is this big over heel. He then put over the juniors division

Short Sleeve Sampson b a blond little guy who looked like Billy Idol. Even though one guy is from New England and the other is from Seattle, they came out to Mexican music, as I guess the idea was using Mexican minis. A guy who looked like Pierrothtito was in the skit earlier in the show. The Billy Idol mini was called something Patterson, like maybe Little Patterson. If this was a joke, the p.a. was so bad that in the one arena in the country where they'd get the joke, nobody understood it. To say this died would be giving it more credit than it's due. There were screams of "This is why Smackdown sucks so bad" going on in between the lack of any crowd reaction to 40 year old comedy bits. Sampson won. Nick Patrick was given a low blow. Simon Dean came out and did some comedy fighting with both little guys. Just hideous attempts at comedy that nobody laughed at, which actually describes about 80% of the humor in WWE.

Booker called out Benoit. He told Benoit that he apologized and was offering him a return match. Benoit's ribs were all wrapped up from the insane tope last week. Benoit accepted the match but didn't care if Booker or Sharmell apologized. Booker told Benoit that he figured that, but Sharmell still had to apologize. Sharmell was totally insincere and she and Booker had a big fight. She ripped on Booker and left. As Benoit was watching her leave, Booker went heel and nailed Benoit with a belt shot and he juiced and was left laying.

MNM won the tag titles in a four-way over LOD, Mexicools and Regal & Birchall. Super Crazy worked most of the match and carried it. Christy Hemme is no longer with LOD, but Juventud still has to act like a valet outside the ring for the Mexicools while holding the useless belt. Heidenreich hot tagged in and you can imagine how bad that was. They set up the doomsday device, but the Tolands pulled Animal off the top and brawled with him. Inside the ring, MNM gave Heidenreich the snapshot and Mercury pinned him to win the title.

They announced Lashley vs. Vito & Nunzio in a handicap match next week. Vito & Nunzio also wanted a tag title match

Batista & Guerrero & Piper b Ortons & Kennedy. Guerrero is full-time face and the low rider ring entrance is back. Piper clearly was given no lead time to get in shape. Batista gave Kennedy and Randy spinebusters. Guerrero gave Kennedy a frog splash. With them laid out, Piper put Bob in the sleeper for the win. Piper was the most popular wrestler on the show.

-------------------------------

OK.... so Booker has a yelling match with his wife, asks her to apologize to his best friend... then waffles him with the belt? WTF? This was a GREAT storyline (Sharmell doing the Lady MacBeth thing) and now it's generic heel/face?

Okay, we must all watch Velocity this week, because Paul London v. Kid Kash sounds like one great, tremendous, excellent match.

As for Hardy getting the biggest pop... I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure WWE will have JBL squash him next week. The plan is for JBL & Mysterio, and WWE will NOT let the what the fans want ruin that!

Oh, and no Boogeyman makes me a BooHooeyman! I WANT BOOGEYMAN~!

EDIT: Wow, I read this thing twice, and missed the Tag Title match both times. Sounds like a good match, and YAY FOR MNM NOT BEING JOBBERS ANYMORE~!~!~! Now, let's push Mexicools, Regal/Burchill, and London/Kendrik, and we can have ourselves quite the tag division. Yes, I know, wishful thinking.

I dunno, they seem to have acknowledged Hardy's popularity in this poll by having him stay in the ring with Rey after the match. And there are no more SmackDown shows til after Taboo Tuesday, so it's gonna be tough to make him look enough of a chump that people wouldn't vote for him.

Not quite. It sounds like Booker was put in the position of choosing between his wife or Benoit.

Plus, if you'll recall the actual play, MacBeth did a heel turn of his own when he killed the king. Your metaphor still fits. It's just moved into the next act. ;)

And then MacBeth does the job in Act V. Or the mega-job if Roman Polanski is booking.

Oursocalledsport.com once did a Shakespearean version of WWE angles. Booker T's catchphrase was transformed to
"Thou didst not enow uttereth such. Inform me thou didst not sayteh so."

Well, I thought it was funny.

Sounds like a pretty good show ... I love the fact that they have "established" a tag division. I wonder how long it will be before they trasition MNM into full-fledged faces.

Sharmell asks Booker T why Teddy Long didn't congratulate him after his win last week. Booker T walks into the Smackdown GM's office with Sharmell. Long shows Booker the video from last week's match vs. Chris Benoit. Finally, Booker tells Sharmell to shut up and Booker says he's gonna give Chris Benoit a rematch for his title.

    ...

Sharmell's Apologized to Chris Benoit, but didn't meant it. Sharmell blows a gasket and talks trash to Booker and slaps him. Then, after one final apology she says, "I'm sorry for this" and Booker hits Benoit with the belt then starts pounding on him. Chris took a kick to the head and took a nice bump on the announcers table. Booker leaves and Chris is left a bloody mess. Chris exits to a standing ovation.

The sad truth is that every WWE storyline, no matter how interesting or multilayered, eventually turns into generic heel vs. face.

I think that about the Booker T-Sharmell/MacBeth-Lady MacBeth thing, THIS is what the creative team should have stuck with. I can see the comparisons to it.

I'm curious as to how the SD tapings are going to work. SD is taped on Sunday next week because of the PPV on Tuesday. With SD being taped BEFORE but airing AFTER the PPV, are they just going to tape some generic matches with the live crowd and have all the angle development happen via backstage segments to be taped later?

True. It makes things more clear-cut for the crowd. A sympathetic heel is harder to boo.

Not nessesarily in this case. Remember, last week, Booker's win got a LOT of heat. Say what u will about Sharmell, but she's by far and away the most interesting and useful 'diva'. If you had kept Booker a 'face', but had him keep taking Sharmell's help so he could keep the title, then it would be the slow and true evolution of a heel. He struggles with his conscience at first (with Benoit constantly trying to get him to stop accepting the cheating), but realizes that he's having all of this sucess that he starts seeing things Sharmell's way. You could have drawn it out and had Booker completely under his wife's control. Now he's no longer a 'sympathetic heel'. He's P-Whipped and completely manipulated.

You see Booker T is Macbeth. Sharmell is Lady Macbeth, and Chris Benoit is King Banquo. As Macbeth, Lady Macbeth seduces him to the dark side and has him kill the king (Benoit).

Not sure if this is spoiler but in Macbeth, its prophecized he can't be killed by anyone born of man or woman. However, he is killed by McDuff who was born from a C-section. Lady Macbeth kills herself out of guilt and anguish for every thing she has done. At the end, Malcom is crowned king of Scotland and peace is restored.

Yeah, that's weird. Talk about early spoilers. I smell lots of cheating for WWE Fantasy heh, even though the RAW PPV might bring more points.

Next week? How will the events of the 11/4 Smackdown influence voting on a 11/1 PPV?

Taboo Tuesday is a RAW-only PPV, except for the "Which two Smackdown wrestlers face Edge/Masters" match, so they wouldn't have to worry about much of that. Most of the options available just have normal matches anyways every week with all their angle development being done mainly with Cole/Tazz's voiceovers.

As far as any upcoming Survivor Series matches, a quick thing backstage could be taped later, or maybe have JBL come out and just say "Taboo Tuesday isn't enough revenge, I want a match at Survivor Series" because something like that could be taken either in a future or past tense way.

I really can't see the PPV mattering to 99% of the Smackdown roster though. Either do a supershow... again... of both Raw/Smackdown, or else move it to either Wednesday where you're rushed having to get the show ready to go for the next night right after making your crew do a live show and a PPV, or else Sunday where the crew gets the week off after the PPV. I think they just moved to Sunday for convienience sake, especially since there's no real spoilers they'd have to consider.

Just for the record, Banquo wasn't the king, Duncan was. Banquo was Macbeth's closest friend and fellow thane, and was prophecized to begat a line of kings (though he himself would never be one). Since Macbeth wanted his future sons to be kings, he tried to have both Banquo & his son killed, but the son got away, and Macbeth descended into madness from there.

As for Phantom's question: Rey-Rey, perhaps?
