OK, just watched that match, and it wasn't anywhere near "great". Carlito just doesn't have the offense to control the majority of matches. He needs more than kicks, punches, and restholds if he's going to dictate the flow of a match. Matt Tracker mentioned the lack of Carlito's finisher, which is a definite minus in his matches. What's he building to? Where's the suspense? He can't tease applying his finisher because he doesn't have one, so his matches just seem like a bunch of moves thrown together just to get to the end of a match.

Furthermore, HBK used more chops than 5 Flair or Benoit matches combined. Mix it up a bit, huh?

Boring, boring match.

If Carlito`s finished involved a little, yellow, stripey sidekick, that would be...cool!

I am so incredibly over Austin and his drunk driving and boring 1999-ness. Completely ignored 90% of his time on screen and thinking about it right now is making me yawn. Or maybe that`s because I stayed up and saw Pujols' homer.

That sounds like a job for one of the new Smackdown! Juniors.

But do cameras in 2005 add more weight than the cameras they used in 2004?

So THIS is why HHH looks beefier with every passing year.

I've noticed this in other matches too (Edge/Show, for example). I wonder if word has come down from On High that chops are the new punches. If so, GOOD. Punches are supposed to be illegal.

Was I the only one who noticed that Big show legitimatly fucked up his right arm? It looked like a badly dislocated shoulder at the very least. Not sure exactly at what point in the match he did it, because he did the match-ending chokeslam with that arm and then hooked the leg as well, but as soon as he got up from the pin, that thing was pressed against his side/chest at an odd angle and didn't move an inch as he exited the ring, jumped off the apron to the floor, and walked up the ramp. When they came back to him at the top of the ramp after the replay of the chokeslam, he was sort of holding his right arm with his left, and then quickly took his hand away when he realized the cameras were on him. I thought it was weird that coach and king didn't mention it, so I rewound it (yay tivo) and yeah, first analysis was spot on. Mrs Skarecrow agreed upon second viewing.

Flair's head was the most blood I've seen in wrestling ever. Mrs Skarecrow made me fast forward past it. She can't stand seeing the old guys (flair, hogan, etc) get beat up. I just hope HBK doesn't try to upstage flair at TT, HBK has a habit of getting pretty bloody in 3-way matches.

Austin was hilarious mostly because Steph couldn't keep up with him. She was smiling through most of his stuff too. See, that's what's missing from wrestling. Improv. Get some talented actors out there with ammusing characters and let them do their thing. The head of the writing team out there "Verbally sparing" with one of the best characters in the company's history REALLY shows where the talent rests. I can see doing heavy scripting for wrestlers who don't have the talent to improv. Give snitsky some lines. Make sure that Chris masters knows exactly what he needs to say. But like someone else said, let guys like Austin and HBK (and I'd add guys like Big show and even non-heel hurricane) do their thing.

Did anyone catch the "bad management decision" comment from Cena when Shelton was clotheslined over the top rope by Kane. I had to rewind it a couple of times to make sure I heard it right but its definetly there. I thought the very same, it wouldn't of hurt to put shelton in the mix for the Taboo tuesday Main Event.

He's wrestling Shwan Michaels. I thought this was best Shawn Michaels match in a long long time. It felt like a miracle match. A lot of the reason for why it was so good was the lack of moves on Carlito's part.

HBK works two gimmicks and two types of matches: (1) I have a counter for every counter, reversal for every reversal athleticism showcase sprint worker gimmick, (2) a what will it take to put him away underdog gimmick. He doesn't have the athleticisim or the ring talent to pull off the first doesn't have the selling ability to pull off the second.

He worked the unbeatable never say die underdog here and it worked because he was getting controled with nothing more than punches and chops a verticle and one low seated drop kick. All of Carlito's simple stuff looked good and well executed and he stuck with simple stuff.

Styles make matches.

It felt like Carlito's limits made him a better foil for HBK than most as HBK was kept controled.

I think he was making the point that The Cheat has spots, not stripes. It's really not that important.
