Has anyone else tried Pandora? It's a Flash app that uses the Music Genome Project, and it's pretty swank. It's a personalized radio service, but instead of playing you songs that simply match the genre of other artists you enjoy, it plays them based on single song information from the MGP -- stuff like melody, harmonies, instrumentation, key tonality, and hundreds of other categories. It's really fascinating; I put in two artists that I enjoy, and have since heard 20 artists I'd never heard of, but I liked ALL the songs.

I'd never heard of it until your post but I have to say that it's really cool and works really well. I've tried a couple of different artists as well as a couple of songs and I've yet to hear anything I didn't like. This may actually be an Internet music program for which I'd pay. Thanks for pointing this one out.

Agreed, this is great. I'm definitely considering throwing some money their way when my 10 hours are up. I also like how they inform you on why they pick what they pick and give you relatively easy ways of finding out more on a particular artist if you like what you heard. I'll probs have this on all day at work...so we'll see if it's still ruling after 8 straight hours.
