According to initial diagnosis, Rothelisberger's knee injury is merely a bone bruise/hyperextension and isn't anything more serious than that and could possibly play next week versus Jacksonville.
I know that my Steeler-fan girlfriend was having a fit at the possibility of anything worse, and watching the play that it happened, this was definitely the best-case scenario.

I believe at that point my life flashed before my eyes (as did Shapiro's, I'm sure). Honestly, all I could think of when I saw the replays was the Willis McGahee injury in the National Title game against OSU. Luckily for Big Ben and the Steelers, he wasn't really moving when he got hit and he wasn't jarred as hard as McGahee was during his play. I won't be surprised to see him play against the Jags. | JustinShapiro

I'll tell you what made me want to puke all over their heads, sir, was that fair catch interference call on a ball that dude volleyball-set 3 feet ahead of him. If the rule is you get to have a perpetual fair catch of the ball until you actually get it, then I would just continuously juggle it forward for a touchdown. | HitTheSnoozeButton

Some vicious cussing would have been nice, and at least consistent with his in-game reaction.
For once I would have to agree with Al Michaels and John Madden, both of whom correctly stated that it was a "stupid rule." The ball was clearly going to hit the ground if ol' Chidi hadn't been barging in to snatch it. It was Darren freaking Sproles for Chrissakes--he's 5 foot nothing, he isn't going to go Stretch Armstrong and grab a ball three feet in front of and moving away from him.
That said...they won, so who cares.

Obviously, I'm biased because the "Tuck Rule"-game turned out in my team's favor, but I didn't have a problem with the call or the rule because I'm all in favor of taking away judgment calls, and making it not offically a muffed punt until it hits the ground makes it a black-or-white deal.
That said, I think they should revisit the severity of the penalty, maybe not making it a "penalty" at all but still awarding the receiving team the ball at that spot, because there clearly wasn't intent to interfere with a fair catch on the part of the defender, he was just making a great play. I thought adding a fifteen-yard penalty was too severe. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
