I am not sure where this thread should go, but I will put it here and if any mod wants to move it, so be it.
We packed up the minivan on Friday to head from our home in central Maine to an even more rural section of northern New Hampshire to visit Santa's Village in Jefferson. We were making the pilgrimage for the third time and were staying in the same place for the third time - The Jefferson Inn, an excellent bed and breakfast. Early Saturday morning, we were awaken by three kids chomping at the bit to go to Santa's Village, which is about 500 yards from where we are staying. The place opens at 9:30 AM and we're second in line. If you're in the northeast, you know why we're second in line. It's been raining here for about five straight days and no sane person is going to an amusement park in the rain. Anyhow, there's only about 50 people in the whole park ALL DAY. We rode the bumper cars over and over and over. No lines, no waiting and a new picture in front of Frosty's Freezer.
So, we're riding the little train that goes around the park and about 500 yards away a spy a guy dressed in black with long black hair standing back to. I jokingly say to my wife, "hey it's Mick Foley." She says "yeah, right."
About an hour later, we're walking by Santa's house where you get your picture taken with Santa and here's the same guy, standing back to. Is it him? No way. I walk up and sure enough, it's Mick Foley. I shake his hand and say "Hi, can my wife take your picture?" But, my wife, of course being the sane one in the family says "Let the nice man be. He's trying to take his kids to see Santa." SO, no picture. We don't see him again the rest of the day.
Sunday morning, we're talking to the innkeeper and her mom after breakfast and they asked how the rainy day at Santa's Village went. My wife said it was actually pretty nice. We got wet, but no lines and no waiting! She also explained that I went a little mental because I saw a wrestler at the park. And they said "Mick Foley? He's staying here tonight. In fact, he's staying in the same suite you guys will be checking out of."
It's a really nice little two bedroom, one bathroom suite in this old inn. I am now conjuring up the image of Mick sleeping in the same bed I slept him, smacking his noggin on the low sloping ceilings and using the same low pressure no hot water shower I did that morning.
So, that's my weekend and even if you didn't want to read about it, I had to share it with somebody!

Cool story. We planned on going to New Hampshire's Story Land on Sunday but changed our minds because of the rain. I have a friend who saw Foley at Santa's Village a few years ago. I have to admit, since his book came out---whenever I'm in Santa's Village or Disney World I keep my eyes open for the Hardcore Legend. I'm all for giving the man his privacy, but would have a hard time coming so close and not getting a picture. I think with only 50 people in the park, he wouldn't have minded getting recognized by one or two for the whole visit. He seems like the type of guy that would put up with a lot from fans before getting annoyed.
Did you check out the 3-D movie at Santa's Village? How was it?
