So I don't- as a rule. But I wouldn't say I am absolute. In the right social situation, I might have a drink or drink a beer. I'd say my last one was a couple years ago now.

1. I enjoy the taste of pretty much all beers except for pale ales. I have a home brewing kit, and usually drink a beer or two everyday. 2. I love scotch. Scotch scotch scotch. 3. I like cheap wine. Carlo Rossi, 11 bucks for 4 liters. 4. I like being inebriated with friends. 5. I don't like being hungover.
Numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 far outweigh number 5. Especially since number 5 can be fixed with some Excedrin, V8 juice, and a trip to the diner. | geemoney

I never developed any sort of interest in it and I'm even not terribly thrilled with going to the liquor store down the street to pick up the occasional something for my mother-in-law.
My wife does enjoy the occasional plum wine, though. | BOSsportsfan34

I've always been amused/disturbed by the "I dont want to be a DRUNK" comments by those who drink. You can have a beer, or a mixed drink, and NOT act like an ass, and NOT have it take over your life.
BTW, I like a beer every now and again. | Mr. Boffo

| #16 Posted on 9.10.05 0925.49 Reposted on: 9.10.12 0926.09 | I don't drink beer. My parents never did either, and that was one of the things I never revolted against as a teenager (their religion however, was a different story). My mom just couldn't hold her alcohol (she started to feel warm after 1 wine cooler!), and my dad didn't like the taste of beer, though he did like the occasional wine or Dr. McGillicudy's. Plus they both are voluntary first responders for the small town where they live, so if they drink at all, so if they've been drinking that night, they won't be able to go out on any calls that may happen.
I don't really go out socially much, but when I do, I'll drink a few mixed drinks. Something where you can't taste the alcohol. But even though I drink like a fish (finish drinks when other people are only like halfway done), I don't think I've been drunk. Maybe buzzed a little, but not drunk. | Nuclear Winter

Once that line started making sense to me, I decided to cut out the booze for a little while. It's a shame though, as I really like beer.
Also, every time I visit my family I learn someone else is a drunk (why'd Grandma insist that I pick her up two liters of Vodka?), so I guess I've got to be somewhat careful. | GRL

| #20 Posted on 9.10.05 2018.51 Reposted on: 9.10.12 2019.36 | Back in the days these things begin (like HS and college) I never had friends who drank, so I never got in the habit. Never have had a reason to now, along with the fact that A.) I don't think I'd much like the taste, and 2.) I have no desire to lose my inhibitions.
My friends and co-workers now find out I don't drink and just accept it, and never pressure; none of them are exactly grand lushes. Having a girlfriend that never drinks either helps matters. |
