MNM defeat a Jobber tag team. Decent stuff here but would've been better if I got a better view of Melina.

Juventud wins a Cruiserweight Battle Royal after throwing out the actually over Paul London and now gets to face Nunzio at No Mercy. Spotty, fast paced and exciting. Wait a minute, this isn't TNA!!!

    Friday Night Smackdown:

Booker T defeated Orlando Jordan. Pretty pedestrian but great for that kind of slow paced action.

Sylvain defeated Hardcore Holly due to interference by Mr. Kennedy in a stiff (in more ways than one) match up.

LOD defeat William Regal and Paul Birchill at least that's what my hot girlfriend told me after I went to the bathroom. Before I left it was pretty reminiscent of the great tags from WCW.

Bobby Lashley shockingly defeated some guy with The Lashlight. Squash match basically.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper defeated Randy and "Cowboy" Bob Orton. Old School and not too shabby.

Batista/Rey Mysterio/Chris Benoit defeated Eddie Guerrero/JBL/Christian. Christian took the fall as usual in this bedlam brawl all over the arena.

The pre and post show dark matches were:
A returning Mark Henry vs. Pat Tanaka and Taker vs. Randy Orton.

    Biggest Pops:
    Hardcore Holly
    Taker
    Batista
    Benoit
    Rey
    London

    Biggest Heels:
    Christian by far
    The other bad guys

Doesn't look like much of a Smackdown. I'm looking forward to seeing Roddy Piper in action, though. What a way to come back after a decent Raw...with a boring Smackdown.

I hope to hear Kennedy....Kennedy on the stick, though.

Sure wished they would have switched that Velocity Battle Royal with one of the Smackdown matches.

What's particularly great is this is Juvi's first (TV at least) match in the ring since he KOed London with a 450. They haven't trusted him enough to wrestle on Velocity, but PPV's cool.

You know, just from comments like, "at least that's what my hot girlfriend told me after I went to the bathroom," I'm not sure how much credit can be given to this guy's reviews of match quality.

Also: oh, for the love of god, how much longer do we have to fear the return of Mark Henry? Can't they just cut him already and be done with it?

And wouldn't cutting Mark Henry kinda prove them wrong for giving him a gigantic contract. That's not gonna happen.

The contract ends within a few months, doesn't it? It was a ten-year deal signed after his 1995 Olympics run.

He signed it in 1996 so, I don't think it ends until halfway through next year maybe. So this is probably his last shot.

Pat Tanaka is a completley different wrestler then Tatanka, so I don't think you can just assume a name misspelling. It's also completely random, but whatever.

Meltzer has said Mark Henry's deal was redone years ago, and the original Ten Year deal is long gone.

Well I did not know that his deal was redone.

And with Pat Tanaka, all we need is Paul Diamond and Mr. Fuji for a Orient Express reunion and a feud with Animal and Heiedenreich for the tag titles.

Or maybe i'm a bit overzealous.

Maybe its really Pat Tanaka JR. Christ, I remember the angle in the old NWA when he went from being a ref to a wrestler.

Not much of an angle really, but they made some big deal that he was going to compete, rather than be a ref.

Mark Henry can still entertain me, if he still looks like PREDATOR!

Too bad Jannetty didn't stick around long enough for some old Rockers versus Bad Company. And last I heard, Tanaka was wrestling in Texas. Diamond used to be based out of Dusty's or Windham's federation. And Tanaka was on a few cards that I read about.

Some additional info from the spoilers received by Meltzer:

- Jared Steel & Jacob Ladder was the team that jobbed to MNM.
- The other participants in the Cruiser battle royal were Scotty 2 Hotty, Funaki, Super Crazy, Psicosis, Brian Kendrick, and Paul London.
- Before the Booker T/Orlando Jordan match, Teddy Long and Palmer Canon came out and talked about the Smackdown brand's invasion of RAW. Cowboy Bob and Randy Orton then come out, bragging about the attack on Foley and Piper.
- In-between the first and second match, JBL cut a promo. He referred to Texas as "North Mexico," did the obligatory insult of the local sports team, and attacked a Rey Myserio teddy bear.
- After the Holly/Grenier match, Piper challenged both Ortons to the handicap match. Which is weird, because wasn't the match already announced on WWE.com? I could've sworn I saw that. Maybe I'm just going crazy.
- Animal & Heidenreich vs. Regal & Burchill went to a No Contest when MNM interfered. That guy's hot girlfriend missed it, as she was too busy not existing.
- After that match, they do promos with Batista and Eddy. Batista called out Eddy for hitting him with a chair, then gave him another one, at which point he turned his back and dared Eddy to hit him with it. Guerrero wouldn't do it.
- Description of the Piper vs. Ortons match: "Piper b Both Ortons. Bob runs away hearing Undertaker's music. A bunch of druids are there with caskets with Orton & Orton dolls. Undertaker ended up in the ring scaring both Ortons" How did Piper win?
- The guy Bobby Lashley beat was Eddie Craven.
- After the six-man, Eddy attempted to turn face by hugging Rey, shaking Benoit's hand, and raising Batista's arm. For his efforts, Eddy was jumped by JBL and Christian. End of show.

What a weird Smackdown on paper.

No no no. The real Orient Express is Pat Tanaka and Akio Sato. Every other team is a pale imitation.

I just totally forgot about him. I've just always remembered them as Tanaka and a masked Diamond.

A CRUISERWEIGHT MATCH on Smackdown? Surely you jest.

I'm still baffled by the notion of a cruiserweight title match on a WWE PPV. I wonder if they will give them more than 7-9 minutes this time.
