I had a cheap electric just break on me and am looking for a good one that doesn't cause so much damned irritation!

What do y'all use?

I use the Gillette M3Power razor. That's the one with 3 blades and the motor that vibrates, which somehow lets it shave closer.

I'd like to try an electric, but considering the initital expense involved (and no guarantee that I'd like it), I think I'll just continue with the blades for now.

You must have the toughest skin ever....

I use the Mach 3 as well, for my head, and the OLD SPICE four bladers for my head and other areas.

Gillette Sensor Excel (2 blades). I tried the 3 blade cartridges but I didn't think there was anything better about the way they cut and the bigger size was harder to use around certain parts of the face.

I used to use the Mach 3...but now I just use Gillette's disposable 3 bladed razors. They seem to cut a little better, and are about 4 bucks cheaper for a 4 pack compared to a 4 pack of the Mach 3 heads.

That and Edge Pro Gel..and I'm good to go.

Totally agree. I have an old Sensor Excel and I just keep buying the 2-blade variety refill... I tried the 3-blade and it just didn't seem to add anything (or remove anything :-)) else...

Years ago I used to use a triple-head Norelco electric shaver, but it would really tear up my neck and chin make it pretty red and raw.

I eventually switched to a Braun electric shaver, and have been perfectly happy ever since. Absolutely no more face irritation after I shave.

Make that 3 of us with the Sensor Excel - I use those blades until the white strip gives out

Gilette M3 Power. I used to use the twin blade razors and a blade would last about a week. With the M3 blades, they last me about a month. I don't know if the blades are that much better, or if it has to do with the vibration. All I know is it works very well for me.

Gillette Mach 3 (I don't know if it's turbo or not...).

I second Stagger's opinion that AWA has tough skin - either that or he's much better at shaving than I am. I cut myself WAY too much with the cheapies.

At the risk of being accused of metrosexuality...

I use a late 1960s adjustable Gillette Safety razor picked up off of eBay with Merkur double-edged blades. I also use a badger brush with glycerin shaving soap.

Getting set up wasn't cheap, and there was a serious learning curve (the head doesn't pivot), but the difference for me between it and Sensor/Mach3 + modern shaving cream has been insane. No more razor bumps, ingrown hairs, etc.

Modern razors are simply too aggressive for my combination of skin and facial hair. That's the explanation I'm sticking with, anyway.

I would use the M3 Power, because it's awesome, but the replacement blades are damned expensive. (I know, you can use any Mach 3 blade, but those aren't cheap either.)

Right now I'm using the Target-brand 3-blade disposables. They get the job done and are seriously cheap.

The Schick Quattro is garbage. The four blades are packed so close together that they clog instantly and are nearly impossible to rinse out. The blades are almost useless after one use. It takes me twice as long to shave with it for some reason.

I've been meaning to switch back to electric, but I'm not sure which is the best.

I use the Quatro, and it does indeed tend to clog up easily. But you can, if you want to save money, clean it out in a few seconds with a needle.

Absolutely. And yet, I still use one. If I haven't shaved in, say, a week, it'll clog too much.

I use a the Gillette M3Power blades, as well..and it's bloody expensive since I shave my head once or twice a week. But they work...the biggest thing I love about the Mach3 family is that they dont' clog...which is very important.

The Schick Quattro razors are the most worthless razors in the world.

Oh, and if three blades isn't enough...Gillette's releasing the five+ blade FUSION (gillettenews.com) in either standard or motorized varieties next year. Five blades on the razor, one at the top. I wonder if it'll shave by intimidation...I'd be almost scared to put that thing against my face or my head.
