(HEY! My own icon! ...That's cool!)

--New this week--

Sure, YOU might think that the new FAMILY GUY movie is the best thing to buy this week, but you're wrong. The best new item this week is THE BLIND DEAD COLLECTION. It features all four Amando De Ossorio's skeletal Templar Knights, riding on horses and killing half naked women dead. GREAT series if you love 70's horror films. This collection features two films already available AND two that were never released here in the states on Video or DVD. This is a must buy!

The other most important DVD release this week is F-TROOP! YES! This disc rocks AND rolls people. It features the CLASSIC episode The Singing Mountie, featuring Paul Lynde. There's only six episodes on the disc, but if it sells well I'm sure we'll get a whole season or two at some point, so PLEASE go buy this... pretty please!

Next, we get another first time DVDer in EAT THE RICH. an interesting little British comedy from 1987 featuring Rik Mayall, Lemmy from Motorhead, Paul McCartney and many others. I remember seeing this way back at a midnight showing back when AMC had their Weekend Midnight Express series and it was good enough to remember that I liked it. Check it out!

Also this week, THE COMPLETE MONTY PYTHON was unleashed to the masses. Sixteen discs total and besides the TV series, you get LIVE AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL from 1982, PARROT SKETCH NOT INCLUDED which was the last time they were all together before Graham Chapman died, and LIVE AT ASPEN which was a special they all did in 1998 (sans Chapman, of course.) It's gonna cost you upwards of $179.99, but it's worth every penny.

Here's the rest for this week...

Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer
The Man Who Fell To Earth (SEE David Bowie's penis!)
Enterprise: Season 3
Chico And The Man: Television Favorites (six episodes!)
Robots
Creature Comforts: The Complete First Season
Lords of Dogtown

Law & Order: SVU: Season 2
The Beverley Hillbillies: The Ultimate Collection
MadTV: Season 1 (It's about damn time too...)
The Seduction of Misty Mundae (I mention these two because I KNOW there's some perverts on here...)
The Witches of Breastwick (If this is even half as funny as THE BARE WENCH PROJECT 1 and 2, I'm sold!)
Sponge-bob Squarepants: Complete Season 3
The Nude Women's Wrestling League: Vol #3 (Where the hell is a 'work rate' review of these?)

I think season 5 comes out in December. It's pink. I might have to get someone else to buy it for me.

Oct. 18th and 25th are wallet busters. Hell the whole month is.

The Ben Cross version of "Dark Shadows" had nice production values compared to the amateurish original, but the storylines moved like they were on crank instead of heroin and Cross was too convincingly attractive where Frid came off as sort of a dirty old uncle the family tolerated.

I'll probably pick these up:

The Warriors: Directors Cut - Great movie....I watch it everytime it is on TV.

Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park - This is rock & roll's version of "Plan 9 From Outer Space". It's so bad that it's good.

Twisted Sister: Live At Wacken - I saw them twice in concert, so this will make a great addition to my live concert collection.

October 18th is Bat-Day. The other Batman DVDs will be out on DVD, too, with commentary on all four. But, most importantly, the '89 Batman movie will have the Prince videos for "Batdance", "Party Man", and "Scandalous".

Looks like I'm going broke this month. Plus, Revenge of the Sith comes out on November 1st, but I guess that's not October.

Be warned that, according to early reviews, the Director's Cut of this adds in freeze-frame "comic book panel" transitions and stuff to the movie.

I'm going to check it out before buying it -- that sounds really cheesy to me, and there's no option to watch the theatrical version. The last DVD version -- crappy cover art aside -- looks really good, so I don't feel a need to upgrade it on that basis.

I do want to see the special features, though.

Huh, don't need to watch that no more.

I'm not a particularly fussy guy about spoilers, but that seems like something that ought to be tagged. I mean, it could be one of those movies where everyone knows the ending, and I'm the only jerk who didn't know it. But if it was important enough for you to mention it in all caps and with an exclamation point, it seems like it's also important enough to get spoiler tagged.

See, this pisses me off because I already have a 14-disc set that they were calling "The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus Megaset".
This new one is called "The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus 16-Ton Megaset"

And the reason I'm annoyed is that I'd really like to see the extra two discs (showing live footage).

...

Actually, now that I look at it, the features for it says "The complete 14-disc megaset plus the two-disc Monty Python Live". So this is just a combining of previously released works which can be bought seperately.

Still, I'd recommend this for any true Python fans. Amazon, by the way, is selling it for $139.96. If you buy it from them, use this link (The W at Amazon) to help support The-W.

I saw the "Live At Aspen" on Comedy Central...it was pretty funny and great to see them all together again. I think it was Cleese who mentioned on that show that the group were in discussions among themselves on possibly making another movie together. Unfortunately it seems like that possible scenario fell apart.

Also, isn't there a made-for-tv movie in the works on the story of Monty Python ? I thought I heard something about that on TV awhile back.

Under the music section, I could swear that Dio's "Evil or Devine" has been out for months - at least in the FYEs and other stores I frequent here in Central Florida. Wonder if this is a new edition?
