I'll leave the deeper analysis to longer-time viewers, but I'll just say...
Last week, if you had closed captioning on after Jack first entered the hatch and the song was playing, you'd see that someone was yelling "Jack!" but you couldn't hear it. Tonight you see that it was Kate in the vent...brilliant.
And, anyone else catch the logo on the shark's tail fin (don't blink) as it was chasing Sawyer...the same logo Locke saw when he first entered the hatch (!!!). | Promote this thread! |             | Roy.

In that fiction, the protagonist (or four other people, who die off during the hour) have to hit the button (Dead Man's Switch), or a doomsday switch will go off. I'm guessing it's the same bit here; if the magic numbers aren't typed in, the island blows.
(Or does it!!!! There was a gag late where found out the countdown wasn't really the final countdown; there was another final final countdown just in case.)
It was a pretty good episode (when you're bored at 2AM and the lights are dim enough); the ending was great until you thought about it the sheer unlikeliness of it. | Kevintripod

I also thought that this might be the reason for the countdown and the entering of the numbered code to reset the countdown clock.
But if you believe what some people have stated that Walt actually said "Don't press the button...the button's bad" too Shannon in the season premier episode, then it seems that it is actually a bad thing to continue punching in the code numbers and resetting the countdown clock.

The "Dharma" logo with the (?)swan? I didn't notice that on the shark fin at all, but did notice it on Desmond's shirt.

I went back and watched the season premiere and if you listen closely, you actually CAN hear Kate calling Jack's name out.
Didn't somebody say at the end of last season that they thought they saw Jin grab onto the Others' ship as it took off with Walt? Looks like that may have happened after all.

Given that they've met before, I wonder if Jack would instinctively know the answer to the question Desmond asked Locke to prove if he was "him". I doubt it, though.
When Locke said that he was the him Desmond was asking about, did he think Desmond recognized him from outside the hatch? Or did he just think that Desmond was acknowledging that Locke has some special significance on the island? That was awesome that he completely sold Kate out (before giving her the knife), and he realized that the best way to deal with the crazy looking guy holding them at gunpoint was honesty.
As for the raft, I was wondering what happened to Jin the whole time. That shark (with the logo!) was crazy. Sawyer was nuts to try to swim to the pontoon. (and nuts to try to take the bullet out by hand!) Anyone else think there is significance in Michael saying "Get off of my raft!" and then immediately the raft is bumped and begins to break up. Maybe Walt's powers are hereditary?
Now I want to rewatch the season finale so I can see if Jin does grab onto the boat or not.
I like that Sawyer admits that he realized they were screwed before Bluebeard asked for Walt, and that he figured out that the others had indeed come for the boy.
Overall, the episode wasn't quite as revelational as last week's premiere, but it did provide some answers. The Michael backstory seemed to stall the progress, but it did provide a nice comparison of how he's now lost Walt twice. The trailer for next week's ep looks INSANE!

Sawyer is a complete bad ass and has the best lines written for him of any character on the show - though Hurley is a close second.

Glad to see that Jin is alive - did he grab onto the others boat and ride in with them since we never heard him out in the water the whole time ?
108 minutes or 108 hours ? The timeline of the hatch since the opening would suggest minutes. Is this all a corporate experiment like Jurassic Park that has gone off line and no one knows about anymore ?
And how is it the Others that grabbed Walt have a boat and fuel yet the Others that captured Jin and Ana (?) have primitive clubs, move like zombies and have a dirt & bamboo cage for prisoners | pieman

Apollo is an ancient Greek god, and he is often looked at representing order and civilization. I think he's the god of the arts too, but I could be wrong about that. Could have been a metaphor for the order and harmony of Desmond's world as compared to the anarchy and chaos of the world above. Or it could have just been a Japanese candy bar.

Reposted on: 1.10.12 1422.06 | Don't have the DVDs yet, but speculation seems to run that Hurley used that snowman joke sometime in the first season (possibly when he was taking census of the survivors, or when he was visiting the guy who kept repeating the numbers in the psych ward).
I saw the logo on the shark and gasped. My wife didn't see it so the TiVo saved the day.
Also liked the nod to the polar bear again.
More hints that people on the island don't stay well (Rousseau asked if any of them were getting sick last year and so has Desmond).
I think the numbers add up to 108, which is what the "countdown clock" reset to.
I'm betting that Kate helps Jack subdue Desmond leaving Locke confused as what to do when the "clock" heads towards zero next week (or the weeks to follow) given the next week previews where Locke is agonizing over what to do.
