It's funny in a lot of ways, but they could have easily put this in a 2 part TV show.
They claimed that it was uncensored, but they had a few censor beeps in there.

It's going to be three separate episodes this season. As a bonus, there will be scenes shown on TV that weren't in the movie, and there were scenes in the movie that won't be shown on TV. I guess the die hards (me) will have to watch both to get the "full" experience. And I don't think the pre and post episode stuff (red carpet and after party) will be shown on TV.
I loved it. The commentary is also hilarious, as usual. I purposely didn't download the episode (it's everywhere online) because I wanted to experience the DVD. The cursing wasn't excessive, but Stewie's f-bomb moment in particular was very funny. Worth the money, especially if you are a die hard fan. | The Vile1

Do they really make it a different experience like the South Park movie did or is it really just an extended episode? Like could you have seen Fox releasing Family Guy in theatres? | It's False

Agreed. South Park made its movie into an event, whereas Family Guy looks to have made a 3-part episode into a movie. Then again, that's probably why it was a straight-to-DVD release. In terms of straight-to-DVD release standards, this is, in fact, great. | j9479

for fun, type in "simpsons" any simpsons character, or any family guy cast member. also, "sex" is another trigger. there is a "kill" level on the left that rises upon using certain words. when the kill level gets to the top and the "Kill" button is flashing, click on that for the ending.

It's clearly three separate episodes (each "ep" has a different writer(s)). It's meant mostly to be shown as a three part *event*. You could clearly tell where the A and B plots change, but the A plot flows together nicely enough that it could be a "movie." It's really great Family Guy, but the prologue and epilogue are what make it special.
Edit: The cursing is not gratuitous (thankfully) as it is in South Park, but this Family Guy can't touch South Park as a movie, IMO.
