Was talking about this with a neighbor while our power was out last night (DTE Energy -you can kiss my a**)....

Anyways, I'd have to go with Shinobi. I could play that game forever. (A close second would be Punchout! I loved the way the cabinet looked.)

The original Guantlet. Nothing beats teaming up with three people you don't even know to go dungeon raiding.

I have to do a top 5 of the ones that took most of my quarters.

1. The ORIGINAL Star Wars Arcade.
2. Gauntlet
3. MKII
4. Captain America and the Avengers
5. Rampage

I used to play Donkey Kong obsessively, and I also remember enjoying Dig Dug quite a bit, but when I was in high school it was all about Cyberball.

Aw man, now I'm going to have something like this (vgmusic.com) (DISCLAIMER: Noisy MIDI) running through my head all day.

{ More at http://www.vgmusic.com/music/other/miscellaneous/arcade/ }

I have to say I was more into pinball - if I had to pick JUST one, it would probably be ...hell, I can't remember the name of it, but it was the first "Mario World" pinball machine. I also liked Hook, Addams Family, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Terminator 2, Gilligan's Island...hmm, you can pretty much tell which five year period I was into pinball. I'd probably STILL be into pinball if it was freely (cheaply) available. It probably is! I should take a long lunch and go look! Ehh....later.

Some day I'll just BUY a pinball machine...but not until I don't have to carry it up a flight of stairs to take it home. ;-)

Heavy Barrel was the only one I could beat with a single quarter. X-Men (the four-player, two screen cabinet) was also a favorite of my friend Jeremy and I.

I played a decent bit of Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat but played less as more sequels came out and I could play them at home.

Exactly. That's what we did. It's still in my friend's basement to this day. Eight Ball Deluxe. Awesome.

Tron. I liked Street Fighter 2 a lot but I wasted more of my time playing Tron. Very addicting.

Hydro Thunder. The Greek Isles. I love that game, it gets my money any time I see it.

But I was nuts for DigDug and Ms Pacman back in the day. Fortuntely, they are both on Nameco Museum for my PS2.

I can think of two right now...

Number one: I absolutely LOVE DDR right now, even though I totally suck ass at it. How fat chick teenagers can kick ass at it is totally beyond me, but I like to try. It costs an arm and a leg to play, though.

Second, if I ever see FROGGER at an arcade, it owns whatever quarters (and possibly loonies and twoonies) in my pocket. Luckily, there's an online version at Tiptonium.

For those interested, the guys at Tiptonium also have great games on their site, totally free.

The original 4 player X-Men beat 'em up. I spent lots of money to beat that game. The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game would've been first, but I ran into it again a year or so ago and it didn't hold up as well.

Light gun games are the only thing I spend quarters on anymore.
