Last night was just proof again that a) The Office might be one of the funniest things on network TV and b) Steve Carrell is a God amongst men, although Rainn Wilson being given plenty to do is a good thing as well. Here's hoping the series lasts long enough so that Michael can throw the 6/6/06 party and beyond.

Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention My Name Is Earl, which I've fallen in love with immediately. Although me loving a show right off the bat is the kiss of death for it. Here, by the way, is a snippet of THE LIST off the NBC.com website.

What's freaky is that my roomate was playing "Tiny Dancer" all week last week, and singing to it. And now they play it on The Office- what are the odds?

A great hour of comedy ...

A friend of mine informed me that Eddie Steeples (aka Darnell on "My Name Is Earl") was the Rubberband Man in the Office Max commercials.

In regards to The Office ... When Dwight pulled his shirt off to elevate Pam's head after she drunkenly fell while informing people that he was a "sherriff's deputy", I nearly wet myself.

Oh, how I love The Office...

Last night's show was great. They're kicking the Tim/Pam thing into overdrive and the Chili's hecklers made Michael a three-dimentional character finally. The whole comparison to the U.K. version has been beaten to death and hopefully the "human" side, that made the original such a success, is going to start rearing its head in the Stateside version.

And I tried to like 'My Name is Earl', but I couldn't get into it. I'll be giving it more chances though. I hope all of the advertising for 'Earl' rubs off on 'The Office', 'cause I don't want to see it go.

Anyone have any idea if they're keeping the six episode structure this season?

If the movie "Almost Famous" taught us anything, it's that "Tiny Dancer" has almost-magical powers of unity and crisis resolvement.

I haven't seen a better night of comedy in ages. I agree with Stevie - the depth shown in Michael was sorely lacking in some of the first season.

Earl has got to be the best sitcom in a while. I was howling when they ran out of Kenny's house because they'd never met "a gay" before.

Earl isn't going to take off, much as I want it to. I'm actually shocked that it got made in the first place. But I hope it sticks around, because just thinking of the possibilities of the list on the NBC site alone makes me laugh.

I agree with the Heat GM on everything.

(Hey my Mann, do you mind if I repaste from the other place, because here I sit so patiently trying to find out what price you have to pay to get out of going through all these things twice.)

The Office, I really love it. With the four big guns getting entrenched in their roles, it's starting to feel like its own great show rather than just a fun new take on the British perfection. Jim & Pam is really sweet in its own right, Dwight rules, and I think Michael is even starting to step out of David Brent's looming, extraordinary shadow.

So the Dundies were awesome. Drunk Pam~~~~~~. But my favorite line was "Someone wrote something funny." "Who? Dave Barry?"

As for My Name Is Earl, it wasn't bad, but I wasn't feeling where all the glowing, four star reviews were coming from. Lee and Jamie Pressly of all people were both good, but I just didn't think there was a great deal of great jokes.

I just wish this hour didn't go head-to-head with the marvelous Dr. House, because I don't like to have to work with VCR machines to get all my television watching in. Oh new fall TV season, you and your TV shows to watch.

I have a feeling (or at least a hope) that "The 40 Year Old Virgin" is going to be enough to catapult "The Office" to the levels of a modest hit - at least enough to keep it on the schedule.

And, for my money, I can't remember a better pilot episode of any comedy than "My Name Is Earl". I just loved the fact that he persuaded his brother to accompany them to the gay bar by promising him there'd be bubbles.

NBC should return to the Thursday Night sitcom days with Joey, Scrubs, My Name Is Earl & the Office. Move the Apprentice to Tuesday Nights.

As a guy who wasn't the biggest fan of what I saw of "The Office" last season even I have to admit that last night's episode was hilarious. I agree that Michael got some heart finally which had to happen to give me any chance of not loathing the character outright.

I thought I would laugh more at "My Name Is Earl," but as someone who hates most sitcoms, I was impressed overall. I will definitely give these two shows some more time. (And I really want to see Earl rectify his "I told Jay that Bruce Willis was a ghost" mistake. :-)

The Office is easily my favourite comedy on TV right now along with American Dad. The ratings don't look too promising, though. Earl got a 9.3 for its debut but The Office dropped to a 5.8 then NBC went back up to a 10.8 of SVU.

Anyways, has anyone picked up The Office Season 1 DVD? On Amazon, it says it has special commentaries and deleted scenes. If the commentary is done by Carrell, I'm going to have to pick it up soon.

I picked it up; there's, I think, five commentaries. Carrell appears in 2 or three of them(along with the rest of the cast!)

It's definitely worth picking up, if for no other reason than the deleted scene where Michael introduces Pam by saying "All the guys have sprayed on Pam."
