Well...

For those of you who are enjoying HOUSE OF M, there's a follow-up series called SON OF M that carries the story out even longer.

The sadly underread PLASTIC MAN, which recently won an Eisner Award, is being cancelled with issue #20. DAMN YOU DC!!!

There's more INFINITE CRISIS rumors going around. It's looking like Barbara Gordon will be taking up the BATGIRL identity again after the whole 'One Year Later' thing. My worries about WONDER WOMAN get more grounding as it's announced that WONDER WOMAN starts with a new issue #1 after INFINITE CRISIS as well.

Jeff Smith, the guy who did BONE if you didn't know, says he's done with issue #2 of his SHAZAM miniseries... the same series he's been working on for a YEAR now.

MANHUNTER is expected to be cancelled after INFINITE CRISIS... sadly.

Warren Ellis's PLANETARY will (finally?) be ending in February/March with issue #27.

Ultimate Comic News:

-Ultimates 3 hits sometime in 2006 (likely the summer) by Jeph Loeb & Joe Madureira, and will probably be 12 issues
-Ultimate Wolverine vs. The Hulk hits in December by Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof & Leinil Yu. The series is slated for 6 issues.
-Ultimate Spider-Man #100 is expected to hit in late 2006, with Brian Bendis & Mark Bagley passing the Lee/Kirby 103-issue longevity record in first quarter 2007.
-After Ultimate X-Men #65, Brian K. Vaughan & Stuart Immonen are finished their run. The Vaughan/Bryan Singer/Steve McNiven run doesn't begin until early 2006 due to McNiven's need for sweet, sweet lead-in time to get some issues in the can, so the fill-in-the-gaps creative team for the series will be announced when the December Marvel solicits are released this week.

I'm so very glad that Marvel values having coherent stories on Ultimate X-Men.

I have to seriously wonder if Madureira can manage to stay on a regular schedule now that he's coming back to comics. Although, having The Ultimates bi-monthly schedule doesn't hurt either I guess. Just some quick questions that I haven't gotten succinct answers on yet: Is Marvel ever going to finish the "Secret War" mini-series, or considering all of the House of M & New Avengers stuff going on, is it even relevant anymore? And speaking of secrets, I love McNiven's work but is he the reason for the hold up on Ultimate Secret or is it Ellis or some other circumstance?

Overall though, I have to say that I'm really enjoying most of the Marvel books right now. I'm liking that the titles make the universe seem very coherent, especially with references to events in Runaways, Wolverine, Daredevil etc in New Avengers and vica-versa. It feels like the various ongoings actually take place in the same world, rather than before where one book only acknowledged the other in cross-overs and such. On the other hand, Amazing Spider-Man has reached craptastic levels starting with the Stacy/Osborn twins and now with it acting as a New Avengers spin-off rather than, you know, the flagship Spider-Man title.

Secret War has just been pushed back from October release to December! YAY! Bendis has said he rewrote the ending to have to relevenace to HoM and NA so I assume that's the delay as the already slow artist probably had to do stuff over again.

McNiven was the delay behind Ultimate Secret but his partner in crime was Bendis. Davis Finch was too slow on NA so Marvel got McNiven to do the current Sentry arc. Turns out he couldn't handle two books so Marvel has hired a new artist to do US, sorry I don't remember who.
