After watching that game I want to say the Steelers are the favorite in the AFC but I guess they haven't really played anyone yet, guess we'll see next week.
Good week for me though since all I care about is my fantasy team and i'm down 85 - 83 but have Julius Jones AND Deuece McAllister playing tonight, if they don't get 3 points combined then I'll toss my television right out the window.

I know that Moss is the most visible subtraction from the Vikings offense, but I'd think that Linehan's departure and Birk's injury are also factors. When Moss was out last season with an injury, Culpepper didn't suck THIS much.

Yeah Linehan has done a good job in Tampa Bay so far so yeah that probably has something to do with it. And is Birk gone fot the year? I heard he had a bad hernia. But even without those 2 I didn't think he'd before throwing INT's all over the place.

| #28 Posted on 20.9.05 0822.26 Reposted on: 20.9.12 0823.10 | Birk is done for the year. The reason being is that a m onth ago he was given a choice: another surgery (I don't remember on what) at the end of the year or do it now, and be done for the year. He asked the Vikes to guarantee him for next year,a nd if they had, he would have held off having the surgery. Well, they wouldn't so he basically said: "K, I'm having surgery. Have a great year." and is out for the season as he had it last Tuesday. As for the rest of the team, the defense has showed up for the first time in 10 years, but the offense is DONE. Linnehan is honestly the biggest lost to our team, NOT Moss. There was talk last night that Tice might be taking over offensive coordinator, too. Great. Like he can barely handle what he's doing, now. (and I'm a huge Tice defender.) Well, hopefully the news today might pump the team up a little. There is going to be a press conference at 10 this morning announcing our new stadium being built. I haven't heard how many seats, but it's on the north side of the Twin Cities, NOT downtown (THANK GOD) AND it's got a retractable roof. Sweet. | JoshMann

Because as I understand it, the Vikings are putting up $250M+, are asking for about $120M from the legislature and supposedly a sales tax bump from Anoka Co. is supposed to make up for the remaining $300M or so (I keep seeing the number as anywhere from $250M to $400M) that this thing is going to cost.
But also the Twins are asking for about the same amount from the Hill and the university is asking for about $100M+ for their on-campus stadium (or 40% of the costs), and this will all be going on at the same time, which makes me think either everyone gets what they want or no one gets what they want. But it's $400 million just in direct budget measures, let alone what it's going to end up being in taxes.

Pack drop to 0-3, 2 home losses. Even though the division is rancid, when do the cries to break in the rookie QB begin? Nice to see Chad Pennington privilege those in the Meadowlands with the opportunity to see him suffer a defeat. Even though Monday night was a "home game" for the Saints, the getting blown out in the 3rd straight road game trend stayed the course. Is it to early to say that the Bengals are for real? I've been watching football since the 70's. I really would have to go deep into my memory to find as idiotic a play as Randal-El pulled in his attempted lateral in the Pittsburgh/New England game. The Steelers had the Patriots on the ropes, and he tries to get cute. If the Steelers and Patriots win their respective divisions, that could cause the Steelers to have to play on the first weekend of the playoffs. And, did anyone actually think Vinatieri wasn't going to hit the field goal at the gun? No one else seems to be able to kick consistently at that stadium other than him. And, I would like to apologize in advance to the citizens of Mexico for the Degenerate Gambler Bowl being played their next Sunday night between the 49ers and the Cardinals.

I was just gobsmacked that he did that. If it was the very last play of the game and you had to score to tie or win the game, that's one thing. But doing just off the top of your head when you already have the lead? Ridiculous. Between that and Cowher's clock management at the end of the game, I'm eager to see what the local media in Pittsburgh will say tomorrow. Naturally, Boston radio is already giving them a beating. | Jaguar

They've beaten Cleveland, Chicago, and Minnesota. The Browns and the Bears haven't done much (together they've only beaten the Lions and Green Bay, and the only team the Lions have beaten is Green Bay), and given that Culpepper finally decided to play today, its still too early to decide if beating the Vikings means anything this season. (even then, they are playing New Orleans, who have been traveling now for three straight weeks). They'll beat Houston next week, so I'm thinking their first real test isn't until Jacksonville in week 5. That said, even if they lose, 4-0 is a nice start. Lets see if they are undefeated when they host Pittsburgh in week 7. If they can make a stand there, then they might be for real.
Edit: They'll hosT Pittsburgh. Not hosE them. Unless they are as good as everyone says...

Never. Favre is not the reason for their troubles, and he didn't come back to be ignobily benched for a rookie.
Of course, the game shouldn't have been as close as it was. From the point of the bullshit pass interference call against Kelly that set up the second Packer touchdown, the officials were trying to hand Green Bay the game on a silver platter... | deezNutz

They started already... and leading the charge was none other than Mark Madden, who hosts the post-game on the local ESPN affiliate. He's pretty damn funny in short doses, and tonight he went OFF on Cowher! He's about the only guy locally who isn't a Steeler/Cowher/Rooney apologist. But hey, you just knew when they gave Brady the ball back with almost 2 minutes that it was over. Even the barful of drunks with their Terrible Towels figured it out.

Which would be interesting if it wasn't such a(nother) transparent Mark heel act. Though to be fair, I really do love his trolling the boorish, drunken "Yinzers" old guard because they really do deserve it.

Point 1 - Agreed
Point 2 - Except that the catch was actually made on the play (if it's teh one I'm remembering), so the admittedly BS interference call was inconsequential.
Point 3 - I hate when they blow the whistle too early on an incomplete pass that's really a fumble.
Point 4 - This is the first time in my married life that we're gonna suck. |
