Team JAPAN goes to war at the Tokyo Dome! Three matches were announced at last for the 10/8 Tokyo Dome show, all with a Team JAPAN vs. America theme, plus Chono thrown in. The three way match will go ahead, with Kazuyuki Fujita making his V1 defense of the IWGP Heavyweight Title against G1 winner Masahiro Chono and former WWE Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar. It is not everyone's ideal match, but should be a major spectacle combining "Japan's strongest", "America's strongest", and the New Japan icon.

My best guess is that WWE wants him back, and offered him a fair and generous contract considering the financial position they're in now vs 3 years ago and taking into consideration the fact that he's a flight risk. Brock looked at it, said "me am worth more greenbacks, grrrrr! smash!"
Why is he wrestling in japan then? I dunno, he's hungry and realized he needs to do SOMETHING until vince accepts brock's counter-proposal... which apparently involves guarenteed millions as well as the option to marry into the McMahon family (he doesn't care which one). | JustinShapiro

My guess is, having all the leverage on their side, they didn't. So Brock pulled out of negotiations again. The house show schedule was always a big point of contention between them. However, if it came down to financial inequity, and WWE wouldn't offering something close to what they set as Brock's value with the contract in 2003, then essentially they were saying that you can either work for us for below-market-value or not work anywhere. So it's possible that someone advised him that the no-compete wasn't going to hold up if WWE wasn't willing to 'fairly' take him back under something resembling the old terms. | redsoxnation

Or, the no compete clause might hold up in the United States but have no standing in Japan. Even if Vince were somehow to get a court injunction in the U.S., is there actually any chance that it would be enforced in Japan? | thecubsfan
