Even MORE reasons to move away from Florida. Right now, Dallas Texas is looking nice, since I'm already here.

All these things happened in Florida...

-----

An Ocala housing community BANS residents from accepting hurricane Katrina victims into their homes! (wesh.com)

Store clerk pees in Mt. Dew bottle and puts it back on the shelf. (orlandosentinel.com)

A mother wants a book banned from a high school class because it mentions oral sex and she thinks her daughter in the 11th grade doesn't need to know what oral sex is. (news-journalonline.com)

A high schooler wears a t-shirt depicting two black guys being dragged behind a car to school and thinks NOTHING of it. (jacksonville.com)

A guy jumps from a car, being chased by police, and leaves his passenger holding a bottle of cocaine. The passenger was his 1 year old son! (news4jax.com)

A prostitute burned down a house claiming the people who live there were hurting her business! (news.yahoo.com)

A nude religious nut. Sorry, this one speaks for itself! (tampabays10.com)

Seven's enough, but I'm sure I could find more.

I couldn't be more proud that Jacksonville made it on that list twice. The good news out of that post is you leaving Florida. And clearly no other state ever has anything "crazy" happen in it.

If you go to open a bottle of soda and notice that it's somehow much easier to open than you're used to...If you notice you don't have to twist as hard...If you don't notice the tearing sound you usually hear - you know, the sound of you BREAKING THE BOTTLE'S SEAL...and then you DRINK THE SODA, then I have no sympathy for you.

Or if you pick up a bottle that's warmer than room temperature, eewwwww...

Personally, I don't know too many people that would pick up a warm bottle of soda and chug it, so although it doesn't say in the article, chances are that it was in a cooler.

Again, it doesn't state it in the article, but if you were both thirsty and tired as hell, maybe talking to one of your buddies, and it was loud in the store....well, the tearing sound of the safety seal on the cap ain't exactly thunderous. That, and some of those caps come off right along with the little perforated ring. I would guess that I've PROBABLY drank from a soda bottle at some point without making 100% sure it hadn't been tampered with. That said, while it is responsible to check this sort of thing (as there are obvious reasons for their creation), how can you not have sympathy for this guy? No outrage at all for a store employee that intentionally did such a thing?

Am I missing something here? This, to me, is pretty much up there with the HS kid and his shirt, and the Father Of The Year candidate....

Wow, an interesting mix of crazy people listed here. Not that there aren't crazy people in every state.

I can actually somewhat understand why the mother of the high-school student wants the book banned because it contains oral sex (and oral sex with a relative, for that matter). But I'm generally anti-censorship, and I haven't read the book, so...

The guy wearing the racist T-shirt deserved to get the crap beaten out of him. Free speech is one thing, but I daresay that falls under the category of hate speech.

Regarding the nude religious nut... hmm. What if God really did tell her to do this? *shrugs*

Back in the day when you told people you saw a burning bush that spoke to you, they made you a prophet. Nowadays, they'd put you in a psych ward.

And then another beating for being so incredibly stupid?

The frightening thing is that someone could compile stories like this for any state. I fear for society sometimes.

Yup, anybody who says "I promise I'm not racist" and two sentences later lumps black people into the "people I hate because they think they're better than everyone else" category-- yeah, not only is the guy a racist, but he's an idiot. A big fuckin' idiot. And I, though I'm white, would have wanted to beat the shit out of the guy if I'd seen him wearing that T-shirt. That man's a disgrace not only to white people everywhere, but to the whole human race. And for that matter, so is everybody who's racist.
