| #1 Posted on 6.9.05 2321.45 Reposted on: 6.9.12 2321.47 | (Whoops wrong date there ) Just got back from the live show...First time since the 2002 Royal Rumble for yours truly. First time for me inside the Gwinnett Center as well. Never realized how much smaller it is than Phillips. Anywho, onto the show...
Got there about towards the end of Velocity sadly, so I'll start with the main event there as that's all I got...
Booker T w/Sharmell defeated Steven Richards.
Smackdown starts with no pyro as Teddy Long announces this first half of the show will be for WWE.com.
Animal & Heidenreich defeated MNM after Animal grabs the belts from Melina and uses it while the referee was knocked out. Decent match.
Teddy Long came out and sat in the cheap seats the entire night with who I believe was the "UPN Executive man" with Christy & Stacy also in the background.
Ken Kennedy defeated Paul London.
Paul Birchall w/William Regal defeated Scotty 2 Hotty.
Tony Chimell says to prepare for the pyro as they will start with the UPN half of Smackdown.
Show starts with the cage already down as Eddie & Rey gets underway.
Eddie Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio via pinfall. Eddie has the match won as he can easily walk out the cage, but comes back in to seal the deal with a frogsplash. Good match with a couple good spots.
Undertaker comes out and calls Mr. Randy Orton out. Orton (with Bob) brings out a big check for $1,400 that he was making out to the "Undertaker Retirement Fund." Taker does his lightning-bolt thing and sets the check on fire, scaring Bob & son off the stage.
Backstage, Ken Kennedy says...something to Sharmell. Don't remember much, but I'm liking his character. Nobody else seemed to care much though.
Chris Benoit defeats Orlando Jordan in 22.5 seconds. After the commercial, plenty of "You tapped out" chants directed towards Orlando as he was in the ring throwing a tantrum similar to what Christian used to do.
Batista defeated JBL. Decent match, but nothing really memorable.
After the show, half the arena emptied out, but then Orton's music would hit for the dark match and everyone rushed back. Orton called out the Undertaker and they had themselves a VERY good one-on-one match although it was advertised to be a six-man tag. Match of the night filled with near-falls, knocked-out refs, and a Bob Orton interference. Undertaker defeats Randy Orton.
Fun night, but nothing comparable to my experience at the Rumble (even though I had much better seats). Spent most of the night happily arguing with the drunks surrounding me. This one guy behind us would chant "Atomic Drop" for the ENTIRE night actually...

| #2 Posted on 6.9.05 2350.17 Reposted on: 6.9.12 2352.11 | Wow, Eddie finally won, and in a fairly decisive manner, too. This will set him up for the title shot against Batista at No Mercy (though how weird would it be in real life if, say, a UFC guy or a boxer lost a dozen times to one guy, and then got one win and received a title shot because of it?). In theory, a better scenario would be to have a Batista/Rey title match on Smackdown that Eddie interferes with, to set up the conflict.
I love Mr. Kennedy's schtick, and he looks like a decent wrestler, to boot. Smackdown looks loads better than Raw this week. | OMEGA

| #3 Posted on 6.9.05 2352.52 Reposted on: 6.9.12 2353.20 | Sounds good, all things considered.
I am saddened that MNM did NOT win back the Tag Titles, but I guess they want to save that for a show on actual television and not WWE.com.
Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm really starting to feel bad for poor Orlando Jordan. Sure, he shouldn't have been US Champ, but dude.... these squashes are just brutal for the poor guy.
Paul Burchall seems like a REALLY solid worker (of the 3 matches I've seen him in) and Ken Kennedy seems to have tremendous heel charisma, so I'm liking them as new additions to the main-roster.
Hey, Eddie wins! About time, and it's the logical move if they want people to take him as a serious threat to the World Title.
Again, for a one hour show, SmackDown seems quite good this week.

Looks like a decent show. What move did Burchall use to win? Are they sticking him in rookie heel mode, with victories only coming by rolled-up tights or feet on the ropes?

From WrestlingObserver.com
Ken Kennedy runs into Sharmell backstage and introduces himself. He tries to start something between Benoit and Booker T by suggesting "Friends don't let friends drive drunk, but the sure as heck give them title shots!" Before Sharmell could respond, Ken says it was a pleasure meeting you and the name is Ken Kennedy --- Kennedy. Crowd ate it up.

I wonder if WWE had planned on booking the show another way, but had their plans scrapped due to time restrictions.

I'm guessing from his win last week and the spoilers posted on WO that his official finisher's going to be the Fujiwara armbar. | drjayphd

Indeed. If I remember correctly, he did some kind shoulder-breaker, then turned it into a fujiwara armbar.

Different crowd sections...different opinions. From where I was sitting, everybody was saying, "Who the hell is this guy" during his match. Everybody did although get a good chuckle out of his final "Kennedy" backstage. I followed my friend to the merchandise area after the show, and there were several people just randomly yelling, "KENNEDY!" so it looks like it's going to catch on quick.
