My wife brought me home a 12-pack of this for the holiday weekend as it's a limited time only drink.
The original Pitch Black reminded me of Grape Nehi from my youth, but this tastes like somebody put a bunch of grape Sweet Tarts in Mountain Dew and shook it up.
My wife took one taste and couldn't finish the rest. I think it's okay, but I wouldn't buy any for myself. I think she hit it on the head when she said that if she's thirsty, she wants something to quench her thirst, not something that makes her mouth curl up.

It must be a wifely thing since my wife thought it was absolutely vile. Personally, I really thought it was Mountain Dew's attempt to get in on the lucrative "mixes well with vodka and/or grain alcohol" market since I just can't see it being successful as a stand-alone drink.

The nearest thing I can compare it to is a grain alcohol "wine cooler"ish drink that I had MANY years ago in Michigan called Purple Passion.
So...yeah I think it would maybe mix OK with vodka...
I won't go out of my way to get more though...NEXT! | cranlsn

Both mix very well with Midori. | ICEMAN
