If you care to share, because some are quite unique. As for mine, I had a friend in school who always called me "G-Money"; when I sign up for message boards and things of the like, I always like to have my username stay the same, so instead of "gmoney" which looks un-pronounceable and since the original wasn't allowed on the first board I signed up for (no hyphens allowed), I just decided to spell the "g" phonetically. Hence, "geemoney."

Well, my name is Steve, so that makes sense. When I first made a screen name, I knew a few people who used Lil(___) so to be different, I went with BigSteve. And I'll probably never be confused with someone with a high metabolism.

First Name + Last Name. Exciting. Yes.

Usually I add "670" as in "WMAQ-Chicago," but I didn't for some reason when I registered here. Something in the water that day.

Came from my name on my college radio show, which was Dr. Jay, Ph.D. That's Dr. J + the Beastie Boys song "Dr. Lee, Ph.D".

The best summer of my life (to the point in time where I started hanging around on the internet)...was spent at summer camp in the Canadian Rockies. We had horses. Mine was named Freeway. Yes, it's lame.

And the 420 came from the fact that the first message board I joined had a requirement that you HAD to have a combination of numbers & letters in your name, so I went for the pot reference.

Well from the Marvel comics character not Val Kilmer's character in "Top Gun".

Well, Actually it comes from one of my friends. She saw me reading X-Men one day and she knew my middle name is Robert and one day she started to call me Bobby Drake then it evolved to ICEMAN. Sometimes it's ICE-MAN.

Sometimes with the hyphen, sometimes without the hyphen, sometimes I spell the hyphen.

It's my last name turned into some sort of attempt at a "cool username".

I failed miserably.

It's still better than my LiveJournal name.

Simple...thought I'd be only in the wrestling fourm. Wrong, I expanded out, so I'm stuck with it and I have no life other than wrestling most days. I can compare almost any realstic situation to the fantasy of professional wrestling. That's bad! Scary too.

Had to have a username when I first signed onto forums on this old network I was into and I was afraid to use my name. So, I was always into the AWA as a kid (Verne and the guys), so there it is. So, off and on, my internet (and relaynet and fidonet) identity for at least 20 years.

EDIT: since CRZ was awesome and granted my request to change my user name, I've changed this post.

Playing video games, much smack gets talked. During one such impressive run on Mario Kart 64 against a friend, I shouted out "EL NASTIO!". The name has stuck since then. Why does it sound spanish? I read an SI article about how some sportscasters were turning words spanish to make themselves sound cool. So, in turn, mocked them by coming up with something COOLER (or so I thought).

Shem the Penman is a character from Joyce's Finnegans Wake. I've used it elsewhere, so I decided to stick with it here.

It's an abbreviated form of my last name that I originally hated, but then grew to love. Certainly a better nickname than "Jaybird."

My favorite angle ever in the long running fued between JYD and Ted DiBiase was when JYD lost a loser leave town for 90 days match, and suddenly a masked man came out, named Stagger Lee, who look oddly similar to JYD. He won the North American Title from DiBiase and when his 90 days were up, they came on and said that they recieved a box with the belt in it from Stagger Lee, and that it had a note in it that said he was arrested because Ted DiBiase had called his Parole Officer and told him that Stagger Lee had left the state to wrestle.

So, anyhow, I always liked the name and that angle, so thats what I picked.

I got tired of using my college nickname for nearly everything on the Internet. I took half the name from a local brewery (Stegmaier, 1857, Wilkes-Barre) and the other half from the mother cat in The Aristocats, Duchess. I just shortened it. The 'Duchess' also evolved from my PopPop's nickname for me. So overall, it's beer + a royalty title, like Homer Simpson's BeerBaron.

From the awesome Steve McQueen movie, of course.

My last name is very close to McQueen, so the connection comes from that.
