I think the fact that the young gentleman has what looks to be a full trash bag of goodies may have played a part in the captioning.

I'm not sure you can blame Yahoo for this.

One caption is credited to the AFP, & the other to the AP. I guess one News Agency's "finding" is another's "looting".

BigSteve's point about the huge garbage bag may have had something to do with the AP's interpretation as well...
