From a past history of grabbing good players from the Red Sox (Sparky Kyle, Bob Watson, and indirectly, Clemens) they Yanks are now reduced to taking guys off the Boston scrap heap like Alan Embry and now Bellhorn. Maybe they'll grab Mark Remlinger now too? | thecubsfan

Because all they have after Cano, Jeter, or Arod right now is Felix Escalona. Rey Sanchez is on the DL, and Womack is a horrible second baseman that I would not want to fathom at SS or 3B. Even though Escalona won a game last week with a single, Bellhorn was still condidered an upgrade. I really did not see the reason he played last night, except maybe for a "Hi Mark, welcome to the Yankees! You get to start tonight!" sort of thing.
Alan Embree just plain blows dead rats, and I see NO possible way the Yanks put him on the postseason roster. Once Wang comes back, they'd probably start Moose, Johnson, Wright, and Leiter, with Chacon and Wang (coming back shortly) in the pen with Small, Sturtze, Gordon, and Mo. I would sooner have Proctor and/or Mendoza than Embree. | Brian P. Dermody

Actually, Bellhorn is fairly poor defensively, considering his range factor is below league average at every infield position. Sanchez is an above average SS and an average 2B (but still better than Bellhorn). Bellhorn has dime a dozen power, hits for a woeful average, strikes out a ton, and his only redeeming value is his walks (but his OBP is stil atrocious). I will give the Yankees big credit for picking up Chacon and Leiter but the majority of their recent moves have been horrible (beyond the obvious ones). | BOSsportsfan34

Easler was nearing the end of his career. I believed he only played 1 season with NY anyway and was done. Gordon and Sanchez spent quite a few years between their ends in Boston and their starts in NY, plus Flaherty last played in Boston in 93. Boggs definitely had a good few years in NY. Lou Gorman thought he was done, but then again he's the same guy who traded Jeff Bagwell for Larry Andersen.

Only important to those who bought into the "curse" bullshit. Probably still important to Yankee fans who'd wear pictures of Ruth on their shirts or placing them on signs while attending a Boston/NY game at Yankee stadium prior to the Sox World Weries title this past year, because they would look foolish if they did that now.
Actually, they looked foolish before but if the game was broadcasted on Fox, they'd at least have a shot of being on TV.

Bellhorn has something akin to Stan Belinda Syndrome, whereby he has 1 good year 2002/2004 followed by 1 atrocious season 2003/2005. Funny how the bottom of the Red Sox order has been able to move runners along and get guys in with Graffanino and Cora replacing Bellhorn's take strike 1, take strike 2, swing at a ball that is 3 feet over his head for strike 3. | Brian P.
