Reposted on: 25.8.12 1031.00 | A few days ago, I downloaded a wallpaper from coolwallpapers.com (or something like that). Immediately thereafter, I begin being inundated with pop-ups and such. I ran SpyBot and Ad-Aware and, while they were able to get rid of a whole bunch of crap, they weren't able to stop the pop-ups. Today, I ran SpyBot and Ad-Aware again. They both said that they had things that they couldn't delete right away, but would delete as soon as I restarted the computer. I restarted, and my desktop was gone. The wallpaper was there, but no icons, and no toolbar. What do I do? | Promote this thread! |             | hhhgamewmx7

If you can run HijackThis! and then post the results on a computer message board for an expert to look at and tell you what to delete. I use this when Ad-aware and Spybot don't get the job done and I actually deleted what I suspect is spyware however this is a bit risky.

Reposted on: 25.8.12 2228.53 | Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and bring up task manager. From there, go to File and choose New Task (Run). Type in Explorer.exe and see if that brings up your desktop.
Explorer may just have crashed on the reboot. This happens sometimes. | Gugs
