John Madden, who coached the Oakland Raiders for a decade before becoming one of the NFL's best-known television personalities, was nominated Wednesday as a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, along with former Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Rayfield Wright.
The two, chosen by the hall's seniors committee, will be joined by 13 other candidates from the modern era. The vote for election will be on Feb. 4, 2006, the day before the Super Bowl in Detroit.

10 straight winning seasons 8 Years in the playoffs won at least 1 playoff game in 7 of those 8 years ('72 and the imaculate reception being the exception) Best Record of all NFL coaches (winning percentage)
Only 1 Super Bowl ring hurts him. That Stealers team was tough to overcome. And I think thats the reason he isn't there already.

In my mind, he's a no-brainer, and that's just for his coaching. His broadcasting and impact as a spokesperson for and to the video game generation is an immeasurable asset to the game of football. He should have already been in. Make the bust now.
Loved him giving my man Jim Zorn props during the Monday Night game too. With the sorry performance by the Hawks, it was the only enjoyment I got out of the night. | ICEMAN
