I'm tellin' ya ... Conway can be the effin' man. I'm glad they're giving him some solid wins (even though they were over Val Venis, Viscera & the Hurricane). This guy should be wearing the Intercontinental title, even if it's just for his theme song.

Did he change up the Ego Trip? It looked more like the Roll of the Dice/Testdrive, as opposed to using the ropes for added leverage in completing the maneuver.

Bret's appearing at the NWA Legends Reunion show on Sunday when Summerslam is taking place. Although it's possible that he could fly in just in time to make an appearance on the PPV as well, I still don't see it happening.

I think the whole thing was just a way of getting it into people's minds that Bret appearing is the only logical thing that can happen, thus a whole load of extra buys for the PPV.

I disagree with the idea that Shawn's heel work didn't have anything to do with the heat he received last night. Yeah, a lot of it stems from Survivor Series 97. But part of the reason that night won't die is that Shawn's such a great heel. If Mabel or Savio Vega had screwed Bret, they never could've drawn this kind of heat, because they don't have the ability to build from the base level of hatred. Shawn can eke every last drop of vitriol from it. He coaxes their heat out, letting it rise and fall and build to a crescendo. He owned that crowd last night. And make no mistake, they may boo the hell out of him, they may sing for him to leave...but they're having a great time. Chanting "You Screwed Bret" and trying to bring the roof down on Shawn's head is just a load of fun. If Shawn's heat was truly "go away" heat, people would walk away. They wouldn't buy tickets, or they would go get a snack when he comes out. They don't say, "I'm not going to a show to see that jerk Shawn Michaels. Screw that guy!" They say "Let's go to the show so we can boo the living crap out of that SOB!". And they do. And everybody wins.

As for the rest of the show:

I hope Leyla gets hired as well. She and Ashley both seemed like they'd be good fits, although Leyla's definitely more the eye candy type.

I have nothing against Rob Conway as a performer. He does his best and has a lot of talent. But I am so bloody sick of this gimmick I can't help but fast forward when I see him. Was Lex Luger such a great heel that his gimmick needs be reprised over and over and over again? I get it, you think you're pretty and you have big muscles. Why do I care? Seriously, Chris Masters and Rob Conway are, character-wise, the same friggin' guy. They just have different finishers. The only way they could save him at this point would be if they made Maria Rob's manager so they could be "Conway Twitty".

Kurt's beat down was so brutal I was actually somewhat uncomfortable watching him smack poor Eugene around. I thought this was going to be a comedy feud, but I guess they want to make sure Kurt's still a bad-ass if he's lined up to be the next title contender.

Shelton appeared during the Heat tapings against a local opponent.

Int'l Heat:
- Highlanders (two guys in kilts coming out to Piper's music, who made tags by slapping each other; funny) vs Chris Cage & The Miz (Cage & Miz win)
- Shelton Benjamin vs local (Shelton wins with Exploder)
- Viscera over Snitsky
- Victoria over Super Stacy
- Kerwin White over Rosey

If you love the cheese factor of Conway's theme song, you're going to fall in love with Kerwin White's whole intro.

Actually, the "'I will always love Matt Hardy', play the Price is Right 'you screwed up' theme song" joke came from something someone actually did. In fact one of the Ws has it in their signature.

So that wasn't originally my joke, but that was the very first thing that came to mind when I watched that montage.

As someone who will actually be in attendance at SS this weekend, I was disappointed with the wasted time NOT building to the show. Big Show vs. the Hearthrobs? Conway vs. Hurricane? How does that connect to the PPV? Carlito has been Bischoff & Jericho's stooge for weeks, and now we have no storyline for the #2 belt at the #2 PPV of the year.

And I hope the Booker Man & Christian are added to that U.S. Title match....OJ has barely been on TV in the past month!

Can't really add anything to thread about the Michaels promo that hasn't already been said, or that isn't similar to something I've said about him in the past, but just to comment on the Sharpshooter, Michaels has done much better ones in the past and I think the problem with this one was more related to Hogan, his knee brace for one, and that he had a lot of struggle with taking it due to his condition.

Ok, I suppose I can still add something of my own. Michaels is a natural heel. I hope he stays this way for a while. And if Bret Hart and Bob Backlund are any indication, morally driven guys can make great heels.

The girl who won the Diva contest was that 'punker' looking chick, right? I haven't kept up since the the week where they had that boot camp competetion.

Bret can never wrestle again due to his physical health.

Vince wants Bret to participate in WWE television in some sort of way other than just contributing to his upcoming dvd.

Solution: Bret = General Manager of RAW

Bret will probably never want to work permanently with the WWE, so just offer him a 6 month to possibly as high as a 1 year contract to be RAWs GM. Vince can demote Eric and force him to be Bret's lowly assistant for the time being.

But unfortunately I think the only thing Vince will ever get from Bret is 15 minutes of Bret in the ring all alone with a mic in his hand so that he can thank the fans......and if Vince is really lucky, he might get a single run in from Bret against HBK.

Yes, Post 12 - http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=26877

But I have been reliably informed Bret will be a long way away (relatively, anyway ) from DC down in Charlotte doing a Legends show. So Maybe not. But that would be the payoff as far as I could see.
