Until they have at least four actively used women on the main roster who have better spots than splits and boot chokes in the corner there is no women's division.
On Raw: Sounds like HBK needed a blinded car to get out of the building. I too wondered how Bret feels about this. But if he can forgive Vince he oughta forgive Shawn too or at least forget. It sucks for him, but it is part of wrestling history and one big heat getter. Nice to see Shawn actually go full out with it, it made him heelish after three weeks where we all said "He's right..he oughta be cheered for this" Rest of the show looks to be average. | Kevintripod

I do believe that's the first time in a long time I've ever heard a non-ECW crowd give a "STFU" chant and it wasn't "go away" heat.
It was go away heat. It was go-away heat from na-na-na-na on. Made for great television, but don't know how smart it was for the live crowd atmosphere. This is the "only in Canada" booking, where WWE gets mad that they occasionally draw not-sheep and books a temper tantrum of insults. Shawn should have been on the show, and the heat was tremendous, but that promo was still way too long. They hate him, so they got force-fed. That's Vince saying: drink the kool-aid. They tease a Bret Hart return they don't intend to deliver. They tease Hogan and don't deliver. Do you think Jericho would be allowed to face-fuck an audience like that? Jericho "gets his" before he finishes his sentence, he's already had his ass handed to him by Cena every time they've gotten together.
It was a great promo, but the heat had little if anything to do with Shawn being great. I don't know what anyone watching could learn from it, because unless they become involved in a real-life scandal behind-the-scenes that spills onto the live product, they can never dream of garnering that kind of heat. Great heel work has nothing to do with it. Genuine hate like we saw out there is not going to come from worked, fake angles.
I disagree. Shawn could have stood there, talked a little and got them to boo. Instead he did all the little things- -taking off his coat, lying down in the middle of the ring waiting for them to stop, addressing each chant one by one. He actually got better as it went on. Yeah, it was long, but fun. How he managed to have nothing thrown at him still boggles my mind. | Wpob

I said he cared about himself only and would never do what was good for the company. And while I still am not an HBK fan, his promo last night was the best promo I heard ever. Every fan in that building wanted a piece of HBK and his heat was not X-Pac heat. It was legitimate hate. His timing and delivery were perfect. He addressed the crowd, knew where the right camera was and looked so comfortable in the ring. He never stammered or reached for the right words. He also did not curse or lower himself to vulgarity or get worked up into a frenzy. As his promo went on, I found myself inching closer to the edge of my seat knowing something special was happening now. And for a second, he had me when the Bret Hart music came on. And eve sitting home in my den on Long Island, I could feel the crowds energy through my TV.
Awesome promo HBK. I tip my hat to you sir. Now, for the love of God, wold you please beat the shit out of Hogan on Sunday? | KathyNumbers

Bret may be retired, but he lived his whole life as a pro wrestler. He knew the risks. So did Owen. It was a shame, a tragedy, maybe the worst or close to it, certainly in our time. And Bret also, almost at the same time, was having personal professional differences with the company.
But we all know that last week Bret met with Vince. Pictures (unless photoshopped) don't lie. I'd be willing to bet that Bret has no problem with being involved in this angle, even in absentia, and is enjoying it. I am hoping after SS, that his column will coment on this.
And, yeah, Shawn got me too, when Bret's intro played. Was that his old entrance music? | Simba

Unfortunately, WCW had to placate Hogan and make Bret Hart look like a big man at the same time, thus they flushed away their big moment and began their decline/plummet/fall. I must admit I was disappointed when no one came out to Bret's music. I wanted to see if a midget Bret would be able to get to the ring alive. Since the handicap match has replaced the six man tag match as the match to build PPV's, perhaps they should develop handicap match titles. Would be more valuable than the Women's or Tag Belts at this point. | ScreamingHeadGuy

I agree the fans have really stretched this one out. They really need to stop giving Vince no other choice but to address Bret every time the WWE puts on a show in Canada.
Entertaining Raw as far as promos go, where was Shelton? Is he selling an injury for the Masterlock? I enjoyed the Bishoff idea of pretending to be from Canada. It was so stupid that I couldn't help but laugh. | Parts Unknown

When the fans allow it. Which, for Shawn Michaels in Montreal, will never happen. Hell, Bret himself could have come out in the middle of the promo, given Shawn a hug, and put Hogan in the Sharpshooter himself, and I’d wager that the Montreal fans would have still been ready to kill HBK. | Nuclear Winter

He wouldn't. From what's been reported over the years there is no chance of Bret ever taking a bump again, let alone wrestling a whole match. One wrong blow to the head could turn him into a vegetable after all the concussions and the stroke he suffered.
I honestly can't see Bret being involved in this angle at all. The just used his name and the Montreal setting to squeeze a load more buys for Summerslam by building the whole show to the point of a Bret appearance seeming closer than ever. | Kaylot

I mean, such buildup (In a time when Bret has "reconciliated" with Vince) such a high amount of buildup... and no payoff? Are you telling me The Hitman will not appear at Summerslam and bash HBK over the head with a chair? I dont know... it just doesnt seem plausible. Why the music? Why Shawn's messages directed obviously AT Bret? Why the Sharpshooter? Bret has to be involved! The Only thing you need to hear to know Bret is coming is the following:
"You will never, EVER see Bret Hart in a WWE Ring Again!" -Shawn Michaels, August 15.
Well, RAW was not the highlight of the week, but the highlight of RAW- whether Conway is a waste of time or not- was this dialogue:
Hurricane: "Chicks dig Super HEROES, not Super ZEROES!" Conway: "Zeroes?" (Looks at mirror as Hurricane leaves) "Zero body fat..." |
