From what I read, people are wildly divided on MNM. I LOVE the guys. Joey Mercury, of course, is the bomb. I hear such diverse opinions on Johnny Nitro, however.
I think Nitro is awesome and will be a big-time star. Those Tough Enough kids always seem manufactured, but Nitro has something different. I remember watching Nitro start out in Sacramento when he wrestled for Supreme Pro Wrestling and he was extraordinarily green but captured everyone's attention immediately. What do you guys think? Can MNM make tag team wrestling interesting again? And, if not, is Nitro going to be the star that I think he is going to be? You've got to remember that this kid is two years into his career, at most, yet he's a great heel with fantastic charisma.

I think MNM can certainly make Tag-Team wrsetling interesting again, but knowing WWE, they'll probably break up the team in the winter or something.
How over they get depends on the kind of opponents they fight. WWE obviously doesn't care much for the Tag Division, but do they care enough to make credible teams as opponents for MNM to keep them over? That, I think, is as important at how hard MNM themselves work to get over.

I think from his mannerisms and particularly his over the top goofy overselling that Johnny Nitro has the potential to become something really big. My only concern is how Joey Mercury is the team's workhorse. Obviously, he's a veteran compared to Nitro, but are they trying to hide something? Is Johnny Nitro not ready for the big matches, or do they have another reason to be protecting him by having Mercury wrestle the vast majority of the match? I guess as time goes on, we'll see.
I personally enjoyed watching a house show match between MNM and Haas/Holly. When Holly was chopping Mercury in the ring, Nitro was even overselling his reaction to watching Mercury get beaten, cringing and turning away. That's a sense of things that not many people have, and I think it does bode well for him.

Hell, they even get me to watch Velocity when they're on. That's power.
I was crushed when they lost the titles.

I think they're good, but I wouldn't be able to point out Nitro or Mercury in a match.

They don't do anything for me. Wish I could see some of those old OVW tapes where they supposedly were incredible to watch. Melina is really good though, she has alot of personality and her character is strong. I guess I just need to know what they're about; I mean, they come out with the paparazzi (sp?) and they do the fancy intro, but so what? Maybe some interview time or more meaningful fued would bring them out more into the spotlight, but for now i don't see what the hype is about.

I think MNM are great, from the intro to solid ring work. I also heard the Heart Throbs were something too in OVW but WWE changed their characters but left MNM alone. Heart Throbs have a good interview segment up on WWE.com and if shown on Raw would go some ways in getting them over.

Too bad the tag team division is non-existant because they could go a long way. I'm expecting to break up by the end of the year.

Sounds like the old Jannetty/Michaels comparisons from the late 80s. While most people thought Jannety was the one with all the skills, HBK worked his butt off and became the star. Hopefully the tag team can work a few more years and both can develope a bit more.

I think MNM has the potential to be a really, really special team if booked properly. But the last time the tag-team division was booked properly, The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian and The Dudley Boyz were destroying each other.

But the problem is that when the trinity of teams was working well, there was also support teams like the Holly Cousins, the APA, Too Cool, T&A, Head Cheese...heck, they had basically every worker have a few vague associations so that whenever things got slack somewhere, they could just toss a team together at a moment's notice.

That was one benefit of Russo, everybody had some sort of storyline or affiliations. Now if you're not in a major storyline in WWE, you're just there and nobody cares.

They've got some neat quirky moves, they're great at being dicks/a bitch, and Melina makes it easy to look at her. Should be no problem for 'em to get over.

They'll get over to a certain degree, but ultimately they're still worthless if they're the only tag team on the whole show.
I still find it unbelievable that Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas were the first team in a long time to have a really good series of matches and some chemistry as a thrown together team, to the point the fans were actually starting to get behind them, only for them to turn around and release Haas a week or two later.

All three are great, and I was glad to see them brought up as the team they played in OVW, because it worked so well. It's also nice to see Nitro and Melina still together. I've seen them together a couple of times in Louisville and had heard from a friend about them dating back in the Tough Enough III days. Sure, that's only been 2 1/2 years, but that's a lifetime in the business it seems.
I really think Matt and Johnny from TE III will be the ones to finally prove that there could be some good to come out of the series. Maybe Puder as well, but he's got a ways to go honestly. They actually treated Matt and Johnny properly by keeping them in OVW until they had some seasoning in them; unlike everyone else (although, to give credit, they did at least try a bit with Nidia and Maven).
If OVW could continue to keep on the good side of WWE with Heyman there, maybe we'll finally see some OVW matches with MNM on a DVD someday.

I agree that Melina is the next big diva. There is no question about that. And her membership in MNM is essential in initially getting the guys over. Someone mentioned Mercury being the workhorse and I think that is because Nitro is still a little green on TV as an in-ring performer. Being on Smackdown! is great for them because they can edit missteps, which Nitro is bound to have due to his relatively short experience. Nitro, however, is an amazing athlete and once he gets comfortable with his in-ring work, he will be something else. The kid's standing shooting star press is breathtaking.
I just hope they stick with MNM for a while and don't separate Melina from Nitro & Mercury too soon. I'd like to see them keep coming up with innovative new double-team moves. I also just enjoy seeing Melina's big ass do that great entrance.
