This is coming from the guy who plays at a stadium where a father and son ran on the field and tried to beat the shit out of a first base coach.

Sadly, dumbasses are everywhere, and no one fanbase can claim the title of home of the dumbasses.

history of fan violence (sportsillustrated.cnn.com)

And this doesn't take into account the craziness of world soccer, such as the recent riots in Genoa over their team being sent to Serie C due to allegations of game fixing.

I don't think that's the 1st time a fan has fallen on the screen at Yankee Stadium. I remember something like that happening about 9 or 10 years ago there.

Yet another example of the stupidity that is enveloping the youth of America. Back in my day, at least someone would be smart enough to do this sort of stunt BEFORE they turned 18. Steinbrenner really is going to explode soon when he makes flippant comments like that.
And a compliment to the White Sox: If they were going to be taken seriously for October, they were going to have to beat Rivera. They did. Of course, I have absolutely ZERO faith in the current closer for the White Sox in a big spot.

What are the odds the article in the original post covers this?

So actually, not that long ago. Not the 9 or 10 years I though.

Hermanson has been pretty much automatic all year long.

That said, you might not just see him at the end of games. Bobby Jenks has been making everyone's eyes pop with each appearance. It's a little bit like watching Francisco Rodriguez when he came up with the Angels in 2002. It wouldn't surprise me if in a couple of playoff games you saw Jenks come in to unleash his 101 MPH fastball and nasty 83MPH curve on a few batters at the end of games.

Actually, as a Sox fan, there's 4 arms now in the pen I feel comfortable calling into a close big game (Hermanson, Politte, Cotts, Jenks...Marte is kind of spotty, but sometimes can be damn good). If our starters can get us to the 7th with a tie or a lead, I feel pretty confident in taking the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an article about Bobby Jenks and how he was pretty much a headcase in ESPN the magazine a few years back? If I'm correct...then that's not the kind of guy I want in the game in a big spot.

However...if he does have it together...phew, that's some nasty nasty stuff there.
