Hi there, everyone;

I'm having an interesting problem with my computer, and I'm hoping anyone here with experience using dial up networking.

Anyhow, I'm running Windows XP Home, and my networking icon has (that usually appears in my system tray after connecting) has gone AWOL. I can't find it anywhere, even after I connect. I've disabled the "hide inactive icons" option...with absolutley no success.

The only option I found online would be to delete the account listing and re-enter it. Of course, with that logic, I'd have to do it again in two weeks.

I'm half expecting this to be a nobrainer solution, but I'm really not sure how this works. So...fellow W's...can anyone help?

Well, if it what I think it is, try this.

Go into the Control Panel and open Network Connections (in Category Mode, it's inside the Network and Internet Connections category).

Right click the connection, and choose properties.
Under the general there is a box that says "Show icon in notification area when connected". Hopefully, that is unchecked, and you can check it and it will go back down to the system tray.

Unless dial up works differently (I have DSL, so I can't say for sure).

The oddest thing: I rebooted, and it showed up. Weird.
