AND IT SUCKS!!!!
No offence to Gary, but he's done it all wrong. He went about it all wrong; first off, he has a very whiney, twangy voice that doesn't suit the instrumentals and sentiment...and it almost sounds like a karaoke rendition: his producers removed the Track 0 (vocals) and added some string guitar.
Some country makeovers are good; but this one really didn't do it for me. John Michael Montgomery's covers of I SWEAR and I CAN LOVE YOU LIKE THAT were awesome...but this doesn't cut it.
For those in Canada, it was number twelve on the CMT Canada Daily Top Twelve. I'm certain it'll be on Launchcast, too.

But if they wrote the song (like one of the Vertical Horizon guys did for this one), then I think they get some monetary reimbursement for it being covered. After that, I don't think the original artist cares. | The Goon

It's not among his best songs (like "The One", "Smoke Rings in the Dark", and "Songs About Rain", among others), but this song is growing on me. I don't know if I'd want to hear the original at this point, as I do like the arrangement as it sits. | Packman V2

I also agree about the White Stripes song that Joss Stone song..."I fell in love with a girl" sounded great when they did it, and not so great when she did. | Oliver

I'm almost certain that you'll like the original more than Allen's version.
While I am also an Allen fan...I think he's not cut for making romantic slow songs; his voice doesn't suit it at all. His song "SMOKE RINGS IN THE DARK" and "RIGHT WHERE I NEED TO BE" are perfect for him.
I am, however, happy to see him return after his wife's suicide. | Peter The Hegemon

John Michael Montgomery didn't cover those songs...he did the originals, and All 4 One covered him. Just for the record. | Mayhem
