The NBA schedule for the 2005-06 season won't be released for another week, but Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant will meet in a Christmas Day showdown on ABC for the second consecutive year, sources said Monday.

It will be the seventh consecutive season that the Lakers have played on Dec. 25 for a network telecast, but this year's game will take place in Miami rather than Staples Center. The cast of characters also has grown to include Phil Jackson, welcomed back as Lakers coach this summer.

And for those who can't help but watch a car wreck, it will be a second chance for the corvette and brick wall to have at it.

Well, considering the insane amount of ratings last year's game got, I'm not surprised Stern is wanting to go to the well a second time. Especially with that added bonus of Phil Jackson coaching against Shaq this time.

I think "iPod" just fell to #2 on my Outrageous Requests To Santa list, especially since I'm planning on going home that week.

Although as nice as it is that the game is in Miami on Xmas, it doesn't quite mean the same thing as it did when the game was in Los Angeles for obvious reasons. Maybe it's because the Lakers were in the tank by then, but by the time the game in Miami took place it felt like just another big game as opposed to the hype-fest from L.A. I would have liked the Heat Brass to have declared it Kobe Bryant Appreciation Night, but that's me.

The St Patty's day game was fun, though, with D-Wade telling Kobe what to go do with himself during AND after gameplay.
