Always a scary, scary thing when a pitcher gets hit by a line drive. Fortunately, Clement appears to be okay. He never lost consciousness, and was fully alert in the hospital. Of course, whenever the Red Sox are involved in something like this, the name Bryce Florie is in everyone's mind. Thankfully, this doesn't look to be that serious.

My old roommates all went to the same high school as Clement, and he's been extraordinarily classy and gracious when it comes to ticket and autograph requests from us freeloaders.

It looked ugly, and I hope he makes a full recovery.

Here's a story from the Globe.

It looks like he isn't hurt that badly, atleast physically.
Who knows how he'll handle it mentally the next time he pitches.

That's correct - when Tony C was beaned back on the late 60s ('67?), he was hurt badly, but after he recovered, he was ok again at bat - until his injuriues kind of came back.

Dizzy Dean wasn't the same after he was hit by a line drive at the all-star game, and, of course, this year, the Indians prospect Kyle Denny was also hit in the head by a batted ball - he isn't back in the lineup yet,

I still wish he was our (Cubs) injured pitcher to worry about. Here's hoping a player I loved on the Cubs comes back completely healthy.
