Well, it looks like my Colts have another 13-and-3-followed-by-a-playoff-loss-to-the-Patriots season ahead of them, unless we can get Edge motivated.

Well, I don't know. I think we screwed ourselves by paying Peyton Manning a maximum contract. And then the decision came to either lock up Marvin Harrison to a long-term deal, or pony up the money for Edge, and I think we made the right decision there.

But goddammit, I hate people who try to engender my sympathy while they get paid $5 million to play a fuckin' game. So congratulations, Edge, you managed to turn this long-time Colts fan against you, because you couldn't keep your fuckin' mouth shut, play the game, sign with another team next year and thank the Colts for all the memories.

At the same time, damn, we need defense, so Edge isn't 100% out of line here... arrrgghhh...

My brain hurts...

I'd pay Edge, and let Harrison walk (taking age and other scheme and football related factors into consideration. I'd want another checkup on Edge's knee though.), but that's just me.

This situation for running backs does suck though. They produce and then are told hey your not gonna last based on the past history of running backs heres the door. IN the NFL with no guaranteed contracts to speak of I dont have a problem with these guys getting their money. Hell there is no loyalty when a team cuts a player is there? IN football it seems like the player gets the shaft as opposed to other sports. Which is weird because they take the most physical abuse and have the most lingering injuries I would imagine of former athletes (with the possible exception being boxers????)

edit: added link that to story I read after this post that summed up a lot of my feelings in better words.
