Could it be the Pacers actually managed to sign a coveted free agent this year? Go us!

It probably means that we won't have enough room to re-sign Double D, and surely he'll be missed, so I want to say, if this means the end of Dale's Pacers career for the second time, thanks for the memories, Dale. You're a class act and a great player.

As for Sarunas Jasikevicius, though, he's a proven winner, and he'll add depth to our lineup. With Jamaal's health always a question mark, that's important.

On the other hand, we don't need four point guards, so I wouldn't be surprised to see us try to trade Eddie Gill. I wouldn't be quick to unload Anthony Johnson, though!

Actually, if trading Eddie Gill (for a draft pick or something) means we'll have enough room to re-sign Dale, then make it so.

Boom, baby!

Well, I wouldn't call him a 'coveted' free agent. The ratio of Europeans that actually live up to the hype is about 1 to every six that fail miserably.

Any teams out there desperate enough for point help that Eddie Gill will be seen as a big upgrade?
whatever

Are we talking about former Maryland Terp Sarunas Jasikevicius? That's totally awesome. I remember him back in his college days, and he was always a sharpshooter behind the three point line. It's great to see him (finally) in the NBA.

I could definately see this being a good signing for the Pacers because he certainly held his own (and more) for Lithuania in the last few international basketball tournaments.

I thought I had heard that he wasn't particularly eager about having an NBA career. Does anyone else remember hearing that at some point?

But that's Euros at the Darko/Skita level. I'd say Jasikevicius is more at the Manu-ish level, coming in off three straight Euro League champs.

Chad Ford more or less said that he THOUGHT he'd be happy playing in Europe (making more money and being the team's star), but that his desire was kind of waning since he'd basically been the best player there, so he decided to go to the next level if he could get a good deal.
