I know way way back, CRZ published a "Guide" (I think during wrestlemaniacs.com?)on the nicknames he used for the wrestlers. I was wondering if there was an updated version out there. Thanks

As far as I know, CRZ uses the "call them whatever funny name occurs to me at the moment" guide. Seems to have worked so far.

If there is some more scientific method you use, Chris, I'd love to hear what it is.

Andrew F. put that together for me way back when (2000?) - I *believe* it only made it to WrestleLine and I never put it on my own site. (web.archive.org might have it but you'd have to be really, REALLY bored to find it)

So the short answer to your question is you'd either have to bug him to bring it into 2002, or just do the work yourself. ;-)

I wrote a little something, but it goes no farther than list what's been used recently and for whom. It's only a prototype, but I'd have to *gasp* do some research and spend some time to figure out the rationale behind some of them.

Or (if you want to share the credit - it's equally fine if you want it for yourself), you could probably just post it somewhere on the board, ask others to help fill in the blanks and acknowledge those that helped when you post the final list.

Yes, it sure did and it also gave my browser a fatal error and shut it down. Hmmm. Coincidence?

Apparently, my browser must rule or something. I had no problems.

The beginnings of THE LIST can be found HERE, but I warn you, it is in a very ugly and incomplete stage. If I couldn't remember the reasoning behind certain nicknames, I either admitted to it or lied. Any help would certainly be welcome. A link to my e-mail is at the bottom and would be perfect for sending me information to add/change. Just include your preferred name so I can credit everyone who had a part in it once it's all said and done. I might do some actual formatting once I've got a complete list to work with, as well.

Some of this was explained by the other one of these.

>Booker Tio - Booker T - *shrug*

thesmokinggun.com had a police report/mug shot of an incident Booker got in when he was younger. His middle name was listed as...Tio.

>Trish Stratus-The Fitness Model - Trish Stratus - She was, like, a fitness model.

When she debuted, the announcered would fall overthemselved to mention that she was a Fitness Model, as if it meant something to anyone. See "K-Kwik, Chrasamatic Young Superstar"

>The Oatsiders - Kevin Nash and Scott Hall - Play
>on "Outsiders." Not quite sure what it means.

Hall and Oates - music group. Perhaps before your time. Watch the "Hits Of The 80s" commerical sometime.

>Big & Tall - Kevin Nash - He's, like, big and tall. And not much else.

Perhaps CRZ (no longer) finds him Sexy, like his old (self-appointed) nickname

I think the Michael King Cole reference is for two reason:

1) Since Jerry Lawler was his original broadcast partner for Smackdown, the "A Pair of Kings" joke could be used.
2) Old King Cole was a merry old soul, a merry old soul was he. it's an ol' rhyme.

Larry King for J.R., well... he does sort of wear glasses like Larry King, and damnit, the "A Pair of Kings" thing needs him to be Larry King.

*edit* ph34r my badly constructed sentences... PH34R!

The older article had quite a bit of useful information on the Kings thing. I still refuse to understand it.

I just thought the Kings reference was because they both tend to make random idiotic outbursts like:

Larry King
-"If you only see one movie in your life...make it Meet Joe Black."

Good Ol' JR
-"Booker T sure as hell ain't no Ric Flair."

Actually this had nothing to do with 'Private Eyes' or 'Maneater' It was due to the fact that the WWF was in Canada. He was playing on the Canadian accent throught the entire report.

Not only is it a play on Big Sexy, the Giant Killer, but I'm also saying NASH IS FAT

Well, mostly because of Nat "King" Cole more than anything.

Strangely enough, I use a "Poochie-ism" for a someone other than Big Lazy.

Whenever I see the Hardyz, I can't help but think of Poochie yelling "TOO THE EXTREME!" (said while making a basket on a skateboard)

My personal favorite is "Refs and Officials."

Not really a nickname, mind you...but it gets all kinds of play with us.
