I am too busy watching Big Brother 6 to be watching Rock Star INXS, but Scott Keith can keep you up to speed on this reality show: Click Here (realitynewsonline.com)

I generally find this site pretty well-informed and Mr. Keith seems so as well. If we can get him recapping Big Brother, I would read it.

Aren't they both on CBS and doesn't ROCK STAR: INXS follow Big Brother 6 on Tuesdays? Where is the conflict? You are missing a good show. Ty, Jordis and JD can sing and are awesome to watch/hear.

It's not that they conflict as to when they are on. There are just so many reality shows that I can watch at a time without my head exploding.

Right now it is BB6 and Hell's Kitchen. Gordon Ramsey is excellent.

Got it. And I don't blame you about the Reality shows. Too many is a quick way to rot your brain. I usually just stick to The Amazing Race and occassionally Survivor, but I got hooked on Rock Star and have been enjoying it.

Hell's Kitchen to me looked too staged so I stayed away.

Absolutely, totally, one hundred percent agree on that perception. I've actually become a big fan of "Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares" as of late (it's shown on BBC America). It's really intriguing to see him be so harsh as a critic of the restaurant and particularly its staff, while simultaneously being so supportive of the chefs he's sort of tutoring...he really wants to see these restaurants succeed, and it shows. That's the whole appeal of the program, and it gives it more of a real touch than "Hell's Kitchen." With the Fox show, it's more about his outbursts, and it seems like everything from the set-up of the kitchen to the contestants chosen that it's just designed to incite a humongous blow-up out of him.

As for Rock Star INXS, enough people are recommending it now that I might actually try to check it out. I really didn't have any interest when the show debuted, mostly because it involved INXS, which I saw as kind of arbitrary. I just really have to start accepting the entertainment value of these shows, and stop overanalyzing how realistic the chances are of the winner or the band accomplishing anything once the show is over.

Now the Hell's Kitchen / Rock Star conflict on Monday nights is a problem.

I've watched all the Gordon Ramsay shows on BBC America & he's just really ... intense. And not the least bit shy about letting his feelings on a subject be clearly known. (The boy isn't going to be getting an ulcer from internalising his emotions any time soon.) He's a total sweetheart & a total asshole both at the same time, which is what makes him interesting. (At least from a safe distance.) F'rinstance, he really wanted Elsie to do well, even thought there wasn't actually a chance in hell that she should win the show. Mr Executive Chef though -- I didn't like him from the very beginning either, & the smartest thing Micheal (?) did was giving Gordon a chance to dump him.

Rock Star is fun 'cause they actually have good talent. I called bullshit when I first saw they had equal numbers of women & men, but they really did find some *good* rock chicks! (BTW, I predict that the winner will still be a guy, But I like having the showcase for the good rock women!) So far they've gotten rid of the weakest guys -- at least the elimination process isn't too bad so far. They said something to Ty about "You have theater performance background, don't you? It shows." I took that as a perfectly fine thing, complementing him on his presence & ability to work the audience. He looked crestfallen. What did I miss?

Didn't see it, but reading that quote I can think of a few possibilities:
1. He could be of the mindset (like many others are) that being involved in theatre is not very rock-starish, and doesn't lend much credibility to a rocker.
2. He could've taken it as he was overly theatrical in his performance, which isn't necessarily a good thing for a lead singer to be. A perfect example of this in my mind is Scott Stapp.
3. That wasn't what he was going for, in which case it'd be like trying to put your own spin on a song and having the judge say "you were the lead singer of a cover band, weren't you? It shows."
4. Somewhat related to the above; he took it to mean that he's singing like he's on Broadway, and not the lead singer of a rock act.

Again, I'd have to see the entire context of the quote and his performance.

Agreed. I predictg it will either be JD or Mig. I think Ty would be a great solo artist b the one I think could really break out from this show is Jordis. I love her look and her voice is awesome. She is not INXS material, but if she fronts another band or puts out a solo album after this, I would definately buy it.

So far, the best performances have been JD, Jordis and Ty.

I missed the Monday (7/25) show. (Hells Kitchen is down to its 2 finalists, so next week should be the last.) What was the drama about JD getting "We are the Champions" & then trying to bail out of it? And did we have backstory about the sister? And did he butcher that or whuut???

I just watched "R U the Girl?" where the members of TLC are searching for a replacement for Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.
Is this the trend? Is every band with a dead member going to do a reality show to get a replacement?
The TLC one bothers me a little more because Left Eye's death was much more recent than Michael Hutchence's.

JD wanted the song because he thought it was one of those killer songs you need to put you over the top. He coerced Jordis into giving it to her by saying she needed to do something different to impress the band (he was right, she did Gimme Some Lovin' and it rocked). All happy, he went back to his room to practice and he could no re work the song to make it work. At practice, he tried to funk it up a bit and the band (and myself) cringed at how bad it was. The practically begged hi to sing it the way ot should be sung. Knowing he was screwed, he tried to pawn the song back to Jordis and anyone else but they all said no. As you saw, he killed the song badly. He was awful. And this is surprising because he did California Dreaming and Hand in my Pocket awesome. He then said it was the first time he saw his sister in two years at the show (the skeptic in me says Hmmmmm) and that he got off track. He did admit he was awful though.

Really, there are at least seven other singers there who should NEVER beat him out so I knew he would not be in the bottom three. They dumped Heather and Daphna for a double elimination. They need to start dropping singers by the twos to get to the meat of the group. A final five of Mig, Jordis, JD, Ty and Marty would make for a much more compelling show and would have them all sing two sings a night.

So far, the best performances have been by the above five. No one else should win this contest and while I love Jordis and think she will be a star, a guy is going to win this. Ty is not a band favorite as they see him as a solo artist. So we are down to Marty, Mig and JD. Marty has some polyps on his throat that I could see hurting him as the competition winds down. So a ideal finals would be JD and Mig. And since Mig seems to be the logical choice (less or an ego, from Australia, strong stage presence) I am picking him to win.
