Well, it looks like the Cavs got their 3-point shooting. Cleveland's fielding themselves a nice little team. They just need a point guard to go with LeBron, Hughes, Marshall and Z.

With LeBron and Hughes they almost really need a shooting guard more than a point. Both of those guys are extremely capable distributors, although I can see them wanting a smaller, more typical point guard for defense.

EDIT: Jaskiekvicus is making more and more sense for them every day.

Let's see...

C - Ilgauskas / ??? / Andriuskevicius
PF - Donyell Marshall / Drew Gooden / Anderson Varejao
SF - LeBron / Ira Newble / Luke Jackson
SG - Hughes / ???
PG - ??? / Snow

So two real holes to fill - starting point guard (Daniels?), backup center, and backup shooting guard.

Well, I like how they are plugging the holes. Certainly better than last year's starters (Ilgauskas/Gooden/Newble/James/McInnis). Depth should be much improved this year.

(edit) Akron Beacon Journal is reporting that Marko Jaric (Clippers) is scheduled to visit Thursday. And scratch Daniels, he's a Wizard now. Maybe Jasikevicius is still an option?

Well, the Cavs have indeed built a nice little team for themselves on paper, but they have the misfortune of competing in the Central Division, which will no doubt be the most competitive division in the league this year. I'd still put the Cavs, at best, at #3 in that division behind the Pistons and Pacers, and maybe even at #4 behind the Bulls.

Of course, ultimately it won't damage the Cavs' playoff hopes that much if the Atlantic Division continues to suck the way it did last year.

Even with Hughes and Marshall, they're still not better than Da Bulls. Chicago is one of the few teams who can stand pat and get better, just based on the young guys getting more seasoned to the NBA. We're resigning Curry and probably Chandler, and Gordon, Nocioni, Duhon, and Deng all just finished their first campaigns, with Deng supposedly still raw. I just hope Eddy can come back fully healthy, and we can make a more realistic run in the playoffs...and not get punked by the Wizards.

Hee, but a "more realistic" run in the playoffs isn't always a good thing, you know.

So he will for sure start over Gooden???? I thought Gooden did a great job last year in his role but I guess outside shooting is what they need.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Hughes, James, Marshall, Gooden, Z starting line up.

Well James can handle the point, but it certainly is not the ideal situation. Better to have someone defensive who can distribute the ball and let LeBron be free to score away.

Gooden was okay, and I'd have to see more of Marshall to know who should start and who should back up. Either way, it's a great move for depth at that position.
