| #1 Posted on 18.7.05 1425.34 Reposted on: 18.7.12 1427.11 | I am about ready to start looking for a condo for myself, and I am in need of an entertainment center. I have 3 video game systems, a DVD player, VCR, and would eventually like to get surround sound. Plus I have a ton of DVDs and VHS tapes so I would like some storage for that within the unit. I would also like to get a 37" HDTV. I was wondering if anyone could recommend one of those put it together yourself models (I am trying to save some money) of entertainment center that would fit my needs. I have been browsing online, but havent really seen much that looked very appealing to me.
Also, if anyone has any tips on things to look for when buying a place I would appreciate it, Im new at this sort of thing. | Promote this thread! | | Mike Zeidler

If you can do cash-and-carry, I'd say go for it. | The Thrill

Usually plywood...but usually priced pretty reasonably. Stores like Office Max or Office Depot may be able to help you out as well.
A key point I can't stress enough, though: measure your components' dimensions beforehand, write 'em down, and bring that info with you when you go shopping. Nothing worse than picking out a center, getting 'er home, putting 'er together, and then realizing your TV won't fit.
I'm still amazed I actually had the foresight to do that before buying a new TV in late '99. | Lise

If you live pretty far from one you could get one shipped to you, but usually the shipping makes the price difference not worth it. | StaggerLee

Actually, the Ikea or Rhodes furnature sounds the best. I got mine at a Target, but hate it.
Oh, and if you want to live in/near south county, there are some condos for sale accross from St Anthony's hospital. Nice location near the interstate and (of course) the hospital. Some county cops live there as well, so it's pretty safe.
