IMHO, I think that Paul Heyman would be a gem to have in OVW for the young superstars. As much as I would love to see Heyman go his own way after his WWE contract is up, Heyman, I believe, is the perfect man to teach the younger stars the importance of mastering both mic skills and ring skills. What's your guys opinion on the subject?

I can't see Heyman wanting to live in Louisville full-time and I think his current contract is set to expire soon. I just don't see him being satisfied being the booker of OVW. That being said, if he's willing to do it, his brand of Kool-Aid has helped give a lot of the guys the push/confidence to go onto bigger things in the past.

The Derby's not a bad place to live. I moved here from a bigger city 11 years ago (Chicago) and love it. Big enough to have most of what I want, with 5 hours a week less commute.

I too moved from another big city to Louisville several years ago and would never go back now. Besides, other big cities (like Cincinnati and Indianapolis) are within two hours' drive of here if one wanted to go somewhere else.

As for Heyman staying, the reports I've seen have suggested that Heyman is only here temporarily until WWE can find a definitive replacement. Heyman had already been down here anyway, so that makes sense. Saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if WWE wants Heyman to say, "Y'know, I like the place and I think I'll stick around for a while."

Would the audience be up to Heyman's style of booking? Just going to have to feel that one out as time goes along here. I would think there wouldn't be a problem, however. The bigger question is, does WWE feel confident enough in Heyman being a "team player" to be allowed to do his job without someone looking over his shoulder and demanding changes every two minutes. From stories I've heard, that had a lot to do with problems WWE had with Cornette. Then again, if Vince can watch him run the ECW show and feel confident in just working the gorilla position, perhaps Heyman would have the opportunity to be his own man at OVW.

I do think there's some other options available if Heyman says no, but I'm not going to turn the speculation about Heyman into even MORE speculation at this point of the thread.

BTW, Davis started off the show last night mentioning that, while Cornette would no longer be booker or commentator on OVW, he would be working for them to promote OVW in other areas. Now Heyman has been down here for months working in the same area with Cornette, so their supposed antagonism hasn't disrupted anything as far as I know, but would Heyman wish to continue to work in the same place as Cornette if it was permanent? Just a thought.

I haven't watched Saturday's show yet, but geez, that really makes Cornette look the fool for the opening 20-min promo the week previous where he laid out his duties with OVW eh?

Here's hoping that the microphone problems (really low volume) that plagued the show while Jim was on "suspension" (or whatever) don't magically reappear if he's again no longer the play-by-play man for the weekly show.

All of this being said: I like Paul Heyman and I definitely can dig his booking style, but I'll miss some of the Cornette style of "80's wrasslin' crap" too. I think he and whomever else may or may not have been helping him put together the show over the past 5 years I've been watching have been great.

edit: PS: After reading the other threads on the subject, I guess that means we've probably seen the last of Synn (no big loss) and Kenny Bolin since I believe Synn is Cornette's girlfriend and Bolin is a long-time buddy of his too (not sure if he has any connection to Davis or not). I'll miss Bolin as one of the last old-school heel managers left, that's for sure.
