| #1 Posted on 13.7.05 2200.55 Reposted on: 13.7.12 2203.15 | Got back from the taping a little while back. Nothing too unusual at the show, with the exception of Al Snow once again replacing Jim Cornette. There was no real mention of Cornette not being there (unlike the last time where they made it an angle on the program), but the audience seemed to know everything that had occurred anyway.
I think the biggest thing was that they had a type of theme running through the show with Ken Anderson doing promos throughout the show backstage and then eventually ending up in the ring with Brent Albright. All the promos backstage were done straight do the camera, so there was no sense of the "invisible cameraman" that WWE uses.
Martin "The Boogeyman" Wright had another promo; this one safely done on video and broadcast during the show. He's still wearing those goofy horns though.
The biggest thing in the show was the first television appearance of Dave Puder in OVW (he had done some dark matches, but nothing on television so far). He's coming in as a heel, with the show ending as he put the OVW Champion into the keylock and everyone jumped in to try to break him off.
That's about it. It'll probably be a while before any real difference is evident in the show. Danny Doring and Roadkill did have the opening match, however.

...so the ECW/Paul Heyman era of OVW has started. Damn, I hate having to READ what happens on the shows, I wish we got it in Florida. | Fro

From Da Meltz Today...
Even though he's no longer working for WWE, Jim Cornette is still scheduled to work tomorrow night's OVW Six Flags show since they were doing a coward waves the flag main event with Cornette as the flagholder for Team OVW (Elijah Burke & Deuce Shade) vs. Bolin Services (Mike Mondo & Blaster Lashley). That would be his final performance with the group, at least for now. Kenny Bolin noted this on a radio interview which was said by reader Kevin Keathley to be "one of the best Bobby Heenan type interviews I've ever seen." | Mild Mannered Madman

I agree. I've only ever seen bits of OVW, but I've always liked what I've seen.
On another note, your signature pic is hilarious. | Snookum

Also looks like we're supposed to get thunderstorms most of the day tomorrow, which would suck if the show is called due to rain. (It's an open-air stadium in the park that they do the Six Flags shows at, for those who aren't aware.) That's happened only once, but it could always happen again.
Since there's a hint Cornette will be there, I'm definitely going to try to make it, though.

Went to the Six Flags show. Cornette did not show. Instead, to help Team OVW was Tommy Dreamer. There was no mention about Cornette at all during the night, not even to explain why he wasn't there to help Team OVW after being promoted on the show to be there.
Randy Orton was supposed to be there as the WWE guest for the show, but he wasn't there either. Ric Flair arrived in a limo and with six ladies (including Alexis Laree) to take the place of Orton. Orton has been rescheduled to appear at the July 29th show instead, with another appearance of Dreamer there as well.
Good show, even with the disappointment of no Cornette and rain off and on all evening.
