What was once a small gathering has turned into a full blown mass get together. Every member of our Fantasy Football league is coming down for a day in the City this summer. Since we are all on the wrong side of 35 and most of us are married with kids, this is a rare non-fantasy related event that "the guys" can get together for. Usually it is impossible to get everyone together for a round of golf.

Anywho, since I am the only person still living in NY (Long Island actually) I have been in charge of the days festivities. Food is not a worry, since I work in NYC I know of some place we can go and we can always grab a slice of the such along the way. What I need is a bunch of suggestions for some bars to go and drink at. Mind you since we are all married and this is a guys day, we are not lloking for a meat market type of place or a hook up joint. Just a fun bar to have a few beers, some appetizers and some good times. I would welcome any suggestions you all may have.

They are all coming in from up North (CT, MA, NH and VT) so they will be arriving at Grand Central. A good starting point. Keep in mind whiel we do not mind walking, we would rather drink and would prefer locales that are fairly close together.

Thanks in advance! I appreciate the input!

I fell in love with 2 great places: "Grassroots" in the East Village (20 St. Marks Pl. between Second and Third Aves.)

and
"Peter McManus Cafe" in Chelsea (152 7th Ave)

I may be biased since I live in the neighborhood, but you can't beat Amsterdam Avenue for bar crawls (pretty much everything from 79th to 85th). You'll find all the food and cheap drinks you need.

My regular place is the Dublin House on 79th btw Amsterdam & B'way. I think it's exactly what you're looking for, minus the appetizers (for those, go directly across the street to Blondie's - best wings on the Upper West Side).
