Ye Gods, Bucks. You passed over Travis Diener!? A helluva shooter who would've made you MONEY AT THE GATE by being a Fond du Lac, WI native and one of Marquette's(psst...they're IN YOUR HOMETOWN, STUPID) greatest players ever? Dude DID have an SI article, you know...

...but instead, you take some Turkish turkey, and just 2 stinkin' picks later, Travis goes to Disney World.

No wonder this franchise doesn't have a coach.

If Villanueva doesn't have his head up his ass, he has the ability to be the best player taken in the draft.
Lakers take a high school center? No wonder they sent Jackson out to Montana for the draft. And, since it is late June, is it really safe for Jim Gray to let Kobe out of his sight? Last time Kobe didn't have Jimmy around, he went astray.
Green drops to the Celtics at 18? If everything turns out perfectly, they have 2 young players in Jefferson and Green to build around. Now, time to dump salary cap burdens, bottom out, and when these guys are ready, have cap room to add quality players around them.

Villanueva unfortunately seems to have his head up his ass 90% of the time. #7 is WAY too high for him to go. Sorry. And off of his hoops ability for a moment, I can't decide who he looks more like; the lead singer from Midnight Oil or The Thing from The Fantastic Four.

I can't understand why LA took Bynum over Green or Grainger, both of who would fit in the triangle better. I guess it's Kupcake ( Kawshen) that's running the show there, despite the $30M they gave Phil. Must've been extra cash to keep Jackson from complaining about all the crappy players ol' Mitch is gonna surround Kobe with.

I don't know where Kobe was but it's a good thing he wasn't in the Theater at MSG. If he caught a look of Deron Williams girlfriend, hoo boy.....

I'm glad Green slipped to the C's (2nd biggest steal after Granger to Indy). I don't think they need to "bottom out" as you say, but I do think they need to at least get rid of Blount's deal. The Laker pick they got in the Payton trade could be used as an incentive to ship Blount (and maybe Banks or Allen to, but I think Ainge would be reluctant to give up on either of them so soon) to a team way under the cap. Blount's deal isn't that outrageous, yet I don't think he'll ever duplicate his play in the second half of the 2003-2004 season again here in Boston. On another team he might. Compared though to other stiff centers like Foyle, Kandi, and Nesterovic he's relatively underpaid.

On other draft matters, it's almost unfair Indy was able to get a talent like Granger. If the Pacers didn't lose all their best players to the suspensions from the Detroit brawl, they probably would've won 60 games last year. If Bird, Carslile, and Walsh keep Artest on the team and can get him to be somewhat under control (a BIG if), the Pacers could be great next season. A good bet to make it to the conference finals.

Diener would bring in approximately 6 fans. I have no interest in seeing him get the shit bullied out of him on the court.

Sloan had talked to Illinois Coach Weber about how Deron would fit into the Utah system before they made the trade. John Stockton also reportedly gave his approval.

Deron's a good kid, Utah made a solid pick.

Luther Head got a good situation as well, a great pre-draft camp shot him up to guaranteed money. It's a great story fgor a fellow who came thisclose to having his college career ended prematurely be off-court doings. He'll do it up right in Houston.

Woo! Danny Granger! I don't watch college basketball very much at all, and thus didn't know anything about Granger (or almost anyone else except Chris Paul) going into the draft, but for someone who experts selected as high as #5 to fall to us at #17, we'll take it. Finally some good news for us.

And had the Spurs not had one bad season due to huge injuries, they wouldn't have been able to select Tim Duncan, so... the unfairness argument's bunk. Besides, 16 teams passed on Granger, so they had their chance.

Now let's see how well our new dude's gonna play.

Speaking of the Spurs, they take another relatively unknown foreign kid and yet I would not be surprised at all if turned out to be just as good as Ginobli and Parker, how do they do it?

They have excellent scouts who know talent when they see it. They do not trust their scouting to say, Isiah Thomas, as the Knicks do.

The Spurs are a first class run origanization who knows how to draft and treats their employees well. All the draft picks they had the past few years will be coming to their team this year and next and will keep them, and Duncan, fresh and always in contention.

Well, except the ones that aren't with the team any more... I distinctly remember a couple getting traded.
