So I took a chunk of a Workrate report from earlier this year and reviewed it as a piece of prose poetry in my MFA program. I thought nothing of it until I had my final meeting with my professor of the semester to discuss what I had done over the term. She proceeded to spend 10 minutes praising the work as a strong confident voice, a unique take on the male body image issues (I believe either the Bowflex or the MicroTouch was involved), and basically said it's good to see new voices being put out into the world.
Dean Rasmussen...judge of booze, purveyor of the fine wrestling, and gifted poet. Who knew? ;) | DEAN RASMUSSEN

Jesus. Thanks. I think a lot of wrestling fans have body issues (and I'm definately one) and rage against the folks trying to exploit this issue is what most wrestling fans do. I hope that's the healthy attitude because I got an 8 year old daughter who is perfectly normal but who is already developing body issues because of our idiot culture. For me, it's funny to make fun of these pressures to make you feel bad about yourself and how you see yourself physically. When it gets to one's I love, it just makes me fucking angry. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
