| #1 Posted on 6.6.05 2036.31 Reposted on: 6.6.12 2036.32 | His new album Cold Roses is so good, I just can't get it out of my system -- both literally and figuratively. I'm singing the songs under my breath while I work. I'm listening to it in my car and at home. I've been a fan for years, but this is entering obsessive fan-boi territory. Acoustic county-rock heaven.
If you like rock-infused country music (Dylan circa Nashville Skyline, Neil Young circa Harvest), give this album a listen. "Magnolia Mountain" is my new favourite song of all time. Pay 99 cents to download it to see if you like ... if so try "Sweet Illusions", "Easy Plateau", "Let It Ride", and "If I Am A Stranger". It took three or four listens for these songs to dig into my brain, but now they are there ...

Is that WONDERWALL a live version of the song? I have heard that version, and would like to locate a recorded version of it if it is available. | Mayhem

I agree. It's such a great song. My wife & I had it played at our wedding. | Captain_12_Pack

Nope, it's studio. Just go out and pick up Love is Hell. Track six. You won't be disappointed. | Gavintzu

Oh, I've got Love Is Hell. Terrific album.
He's released nine albums over the last ten years, with two more scheduled to come out in 2005. That kind of (consistently great) output is what is making me think he's in Neil Young/Elvis Costello territory now.

| #7 Posted on 7.6.05 2050.40 Reposted on: 7.6.12 2050.49 | I was extremely disappointed with "Cold Roses" personally, and to make even more friends, I wasn't too fond of his "Wonderwall" cover either.
I think the saddest song he's ever recorded (and I thank god the song wasn't around when I was younger and a *tad* more melancholy) is "She Wants to Play Hearts" from his "Demolition" album.
I guess I expected "Cold Roses" to rock a little more, which was my mistake. I eagerly await his next one tho and glad most of you seem to enjoy the new one. | Zeruel

I didn't think is sounded THAT bad, but I wasn't really paying attention to it. I was trying to drive.
She also got Cold Roses. "It's pretty good," she chimed in. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
