| #1 Posted on 6.6.05 1921.24 Reposted on: 6.6.12 1921.48 | Can anyone fill me in on a reputable historical web-site that would be a good source for as fourth listing to a bibliography?
My 16 year old cousin has been assigned to write a biography on "good ole" Adolf Hitler and needs some help with a his last source of info.
Reputable websites are acceptable, but if you try using search engines with the topic of Hitler, you get mostly white pride based organizations. These lead to nowhere. Anyone?

But by using specific search terms on there, he might be able to track down some reputable sources. He'll definitely be able to avoid most of the "White Power" sites. From looking at it right now, it seems as if you'll be directed to a lot of online sites selling these books, and finding a website with commentary will be a little hard.

Also, it's not the most reliable thing in the world, but wikipedia ("the free online encyclopedia") would probably be an acceptable source for a high school project. Also, the more important the entry, the less likely it is that the wikipedia write-up on it will be screwball, because a lot of people will be reading it and fact-checking it. Hitler's a big enough subject that I'm sure plenty of amateur historians have pored over the entry looking for loony comments.

Most instructors really, really frown on Wikipedia. REALLY. But Google's Scholar search engine is pretty good. Also, there's a few online encyclopedias (Encarta has one, I think) that should provide good info. Maybe Biography's website or Time.com, too. | JST

I think My Cuz should be able to do the rest from here. I'm just looking out for the little turd. I especially liked the rip of CRZ's material from ekedolphin. Why? Well Cuz I'm relatively new to The -W, because of that, I deserve it (and the link kinda fits the thread I posted)
Thanks for the help.

That's funny. I'd have figured high school instructors wouldn't be as stringent as all that. I know it'd definitely be right out for any college paper, but high school standards seem so lax. Or maybe that's me looking crankily back on what I remember of high school.
Certainly, I wouldn't know the first thing about internet acceptability in high schools these days. When I graduated high school, I still knew people who used internet access only for email. "I have AOL to check my email! I don't need that 'internet' thing." I don't think it would have occurred to me to research anything online. | The Guinness.
