He truly earned the 'AWESOMETAKER' CRZ name during the feud with Ric Flair. The scenes when he used David as a lure was some great promo work, topped off by Flair finally agreeing to fight him and Taker said, nah, he changed his mind. And that moment -- that one glorious moment -- during the PPV match when Arn ran-in and spinebustered Taker. That should have ended the match, dammit.
Still, my point, Taker did good work there.

Although to play the arcane card, two of the five best matches of his career aren't on it, since they really don't have a reason to be other than they're great from a match quality standpoint.
vs. Kurt Angle vs. Rock, WWE title match, Vengeance 2002 vs. Kurt Angle, WWE title match, Smackdown Sept 2003

That, and some of the freakier Ministry stuff, like trying to embalm Austin, "sacrifice" Mideon, and marry Stephanie.
Undertaker fans aren't into classic matches, they're into classic moments. I'm willing to bet most fans would give up, say, Taker/Cena to make room for his comeback at Judgment Day 2000, Macho Man's wedding reception, the SNME chairshot on Jake and the subsequent face turn at the Funeral Parlor, the day Brother Love handed him over to Bearer, drowning Bearer in concrete, riding a hearse to the ring while carrying a vulture, the promo where he abandoned Big Show in the desert...I could go on and on.
In terms of matches, I'm stunned that they left out Wrestlemania XIII. I think all these spotlight DVDs should automatically include all world title wins for posterity (although it's understandable that they omit Over the Edge '99). I'd expect people to demand the Tuesday in Texas match with Hogan just because it's so obscure. The whole '96 feud with Mankind is key to following the character's evolution. Some WWE DVD news. "Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker" is a 3-disc set slated for a 8/23 release. This will be much like the Flair DVD with Taker giving commentary on his matches with tons of extra features.
Triple H has a 3-disc set coming out on 11/22 titled "Evolution of the Game", focusing on the DX era, the McMahon-Helmsley era, and the Evolution era.
Also released on 11/22 is "ECW's Greatest Matches", which is a 2-disc set. This will actually be the greatest matches and not the tame fluff they put on the Rise & Fall DVD.
The "Greatest Stars of the 80s" DVD has already started popping up in some Walmart stores. A reader writes... 'Just thought I would let you know that earlier today I was at Walmart in Syracuse, NY and they were already stocking the new WWE Superstars DVD with a mix of NWA, WWE, WCW and classic matches. It retails for about $22.50.'
Finally there is a "Greatest Ladder Matches" 2-disc set coming out on 9/27.
I really hope they would just quit re-doing the Taker, HHH, and ECW DVDs and give us just ONE Angle or Jericho DVD. | hhhgamewmx7

| #18 Posted on 8.6.05 1233.12 Reposted on: 8.6.12 1233.12 | Looks pretty good. I'd probably buy it regardless since I'm a UT fan, but at least there is some decent substance there to justify my purchase to the smarkety-smark-smark segment of the audience.
They sure did gloss over those first few years. Although the matches were nothing special, they should have at least had his debut from Survivor Series 90 and his WM8 match against Jake Roberts. Instead they just jump from 91 to 94.
They don't include his WM13 main event world title victory? I know the match sucked but come on, that's a HUGE omission if this is supposed to be a history of the Undertaker disc.
Not to give more attention to whatsisname's star ratings, but not only is the HIAC match with Foley being ranked as * debatable, so are his rankings for the WM14 match with Kane and the followup inferno match. Er, although I guess ALL of them are debatable. You just won't catch me trying to defend the Hogan-UT match from 2002.
Agreed on needing more "moments" to go along with the matches. There are plenty of things they could have stuck on there, especially from the early years, like the Warrior coffin-stuffing and where he turned face for the first time, with Jake Roberts SLAMMING THE LID OF A COFFIN ON HIS HAND AND BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF HIM WITH A CHAIR, forcing Undertaker to come after him WHILE DRAGGING THE COFFIN BEHIND HIM. That was some neat stuff to a guy in 7th grade at the time.
I guess we could hope for a few easter eggs or something.
Included -
Undertaker talking to his parents' tombstones
YES. If this is what I think it is, he's sitting in some B-movie looking graveyard at night and giving this speech to his parents that is supposed to be touching but comes off as ridiculous. "Yes, mother and father, I hope war with my brother ends so we can ALL rest in peace."
Not included -
(What about a) biography of his life & career including his time in NWA/ WCW?
Good question. They did a few minutes on that on the last UT DVD from a few years back (This is My Yard). I guess since it's titled "The History of the Undertaker" they don't feel the need to mention it. Too bad.
vs. Kurt Angle, WWE title match, Smackdown Sept 2003
Was that the double pin/tapout finish? If so, I agree that needed to be on there. Hopefully if/when they do the Angle disc that will be included - only Undertaker tap-out ever, even though it didn't count.

No the double pin/tapout match was in 2002 to set up the Vengeance Triple Threat Match with The Rock. The September 2003 match was just an awesome match that ended with a Brock run in. | hhhgamewmx7
