I know the voting results are early, but the NL looks pretty sad. Who's voting in Nomar at short? The outfield of Griffey, Edmonds, and Beltran isn't as good as Abreau, Cabrera, and C.Lee.

Normally I'd be pulling for 4 Yankees: A-Rod, Jeter, Sheffield, and Rivera. Only as bad as the Yankees are playing I wouldn't take more than 2 of them. Vlad played himself out with the headfirst slide. This year isn't Damon better than Manny?

Idiots.

I was actually surprised that the American League vote is actually spot on with both B-Rob at 2nd and Tejada at short deserving of their spots.

It all depends on what you're voting for. My son was asking me (at the game in the sig below, where each of my three sons got a ball) if his outfield of Bonds, Griffey and somebody else was a good ballot. It is, if you want to see the biggest stars in the game playing in the All Star Game. If you're voting for who deserves to be there THIS YEAR, it obviously stinks.

I was glad to see that the voters do indeed pay attention sometimes and give the more deserving player the nod, but with Roberts' lead over Soriano being a mere 1,400 votes, I'm kind of worried that Soriano might nudge him out and the best player in the AL in the first half of the season won't even be a starter in the All Star games.

Why is Tino Martinez the starter at first base? It's nice that he is having a bit of a resurgence this year, but come on, Mark Teixeira is by far the best first baseman in the AL this year. Not even really that close.

What an awesome picture. How did all three of them get balls? Were they so adorable that all the fans in your section gave them balls?

We were seated in the first row, right where the backstop ends, on the third base side (Rockies at Brewers).

The first ball was a pitch that hit Geoff Jenkins in the knee. It rolled back towards us, and the ball boy gave it to an older couple across the aisle from us. They gave it to Evan (my youngest, who was sitting on my lap in the seat next to the aisle -- the seat is the last one before the screen ends).

The second one was on a pitch in the dirt that bounced toward the Rockies on deck circle. At that point, Ben (the middle one) was sitting in the aisle seat, so the Rockies on deck hitter walked it over and tossed it to Ben.

As soon as that happened, I had Adam (my oldest) and Ben switch seats. No more than 10 pitches later, a ball was fouled right to me (it hit me in the hands through the screen). The bat boy was walking over toward it, so I told Adam to stand in the aisle. The bat boy gave him the ball, and the trifecta was complete!

Well, Cesar Izturis is sloooowly moving up the NL ballot at shortstop....but at this point, he's not even in the top 5 in voting.

That's pretty cool, I'm sure they were thrilled. When I was a kid a group of guys that Dad worked with went to St. Louis for a game every year. One of the guys had a son named Howie that was a year older than me. When I was about 9 or 10 years old we saw the Cardinals play the Dodgers and Howie and I went to a concession stand to get a souvenir for this one guy's nephews. When we came back the guy (in our group) sitting behind us had 2 foul balls. One of them had landed in my vacated seat. That was a difficult blow for me to overcome. The rat bastard didn't give us the balls either.

Way to represent, Sec19Row53. The Packer pullover and Brew Crew hat is a nice Wisconsin mix...although you'd have looked a whole lot cooler in a hat w/ the old-school ball-in-glove Brewers logo.

Where's the Sixto Lescano love, man!? :-)

When I attended the Dodger game Tuesday night, he was 4th in voting. But as much as I would love to see Little Cesar start, he's not doing himself any favors with the current slump he's in.
