    W. Mark Felt, who retired from the FBI after rising to its second most senior position, has identified himself as the "Deep Throat" source quoted by The Washington Post to break the Watergate scandal that led to President Nixon's resignation, Vanity Fair magazine said Tuesday.

I want to see Woodward confirm it before I believe it. if it he is Deep Throat, Im disappointed. Iwas hoping it would be someone more famous, Like Buchanan. Or George Bush.

Personally, I was hoping for Ben Stein.

However, Woodward and Bernstein have reiterated their stance: no ID of "Deep Throat" until said source is dead.

It just flashed on CNN that Woodward has confirmed that Deep Throat was in fact Felt. There's no link on their page this second, but it's right on the BREAKING NEWS bar.

Second-in-command at the FBI? Can't help but feel a little disappointed. By the way, as I type this Pat Buchanan is bitching about Felt on MSNBC's "Hardball." Absolutely hilarious. Also interesting to note that Chris Matthews spoke about the Nixon tapes, saying that Felt was specifically mentioned as an ambitious and loyal guy who wanted to cooperate them, with Matthews going so far as to say they were insinuating he was a "suck-up." Don't know how true that last part is, since I haven't heard the tapes myself.

And, if anyone cares, I made a YTMND.

He was pardoned by Reagan in 1981 for allowing the FBI to break into the offices of Vietnam war protestors without a warrant.

Also on that page: Jimmy Carter pardoned Peter Yarrow for a sexual offense! Shocking.

Bernstein stated that there were other sources also helping with information.

Any questions on this issue should be answered soon. Bob Woodward's rushing a new book on the shelf next month.
